The names are either chosen because the outfit or because of what the member does. Chosen because of the outfit: Skull, panther, fox, noir Chosen because of what they do: Oracle, Joker Expections are crow, queen, violet and mona Mona: it's just short for Morgana Violet: sumire translated to English Queen: because she acts like a queen (dominant, high and mighty, picky, proud) Crow: several symbolisms can be found within that codename. From simple "crows are black" to deeper symbolism like: Crows are known to hold grudges against humans who hurt them before. They are said to never let go of there grudges. Of course that's just folklore and can't be scientifically proven but it refers to Akechi holding a grudge against shido.

I think the nickname crow was foreshadowing and also a way of not typing two names in the code before akechis reveal. We can also see it in his outfit. The first mask kinda resembles a crow and the second suit, well, you know. Worst of all is that Makoto isn't even picky or even dominant. She acts more mother like. And sometimes she's kinda bossy. You'd kinda expect Haru to be nicknamed "Queen" both due to her persona and her status. Violet well, its just sumire in English so. Not much to think about there. But really, Makoto has Johanna and all of its iterations. All motorcycles or motored vehicles. Her suit also has the leathery bodysuit look. Rider is kinda an obvious choice. Guess she kinda got Hifumi's name and skill in battle

I think Queen does suit Makoto, after all it's most likely that she will be the one leading the team if we exclude Joker (the main leader obviously), given her advisor role and personality (most evident in Kaneshiro's Palace of course). (I said this partially based on my own personal thoughts as well, I'd pick Makoto if I had to choose anyone other than Joker to lead the team. I'd feel safest with Makoto's judgment and strategic way of tackling problems (outside of her non-existent stalking skills though XD) Rider suits Makoto too, but I think it doesn't justify her as well as Queen does. Then again, I guess there are other codenames that are more literal anyways (like Skull and Fox)! This is just what I think.

Tbh. If you got to pick a "vice-leader" for the Phantom thieves Makoto wouldn't be my first choice. In terms of competence it would be Akechi. No question about that. But since he has some "treacherous" tendencies you obviously can't pick him. My choice would be: 1. Morgana People constantly underestimate him. I think as long as he doesn't fall into another existential crisis he's the closest to joker in terms of leading capability. Everyone listens to Morgana. He's the true OG after all. Without him joker and ryuji would've just died in the first palace.

@@dennisleonardo2992 I agree about Akechi, that was why I didn't consider him haha. He's definitely one of the smartest characters in the game! As for Morgana, I do think that he's one of the most capable members too! It's true that without him, the others would be quite clueless and you're right that Skull and Joker wouldn't have survived in the first place. I'd like to think that Mona and Queen are both capable of leading the team on and aiding Joker (the leader) and Oracle (the navigator) in their efforts ^^ But I guess my point is how Queen suits Makoto as her codename after all. Even Mona says that she reminds him of an empress xD

If you ask me, its better than prez. Queen would be better fitting if we are going based off of cards. There's a joker, queen, king, and others. Of course there's no king but that's just another way of thinking it.
