I am sorry you have felt "home shame"??? never, ever feel bad because your home does not look like others!!! I grew up very poor, but my Mother was determined it would all be clean and organized! Little things mean alot, a bright colored tea pot, a cheerful plant, home sewn curtains, a pot of soup bubbling on the stove, there is no price to pay for that, as long as you are happy and healthy and doing the best you can. Happy home...happy heart!

When my cousins were young, they got tons of toys. My mom and I decided to make some food boxes. We used shoe boxes and filled with fruit, cookies, candy, and popcorn balls. I wrapped them using the Sunday funnies. This year, I resurrected the tradition for our small group church kids. They will get their packages Sunday night. I hope they love them as much as my cousins did!

Our In-Laws used to do this for the family!! they got medium cardboard box and put each familys name on it and spent the time before Christmas filling it with canned goods, chili, crackers, vegetables, tuna, pasta and always a bottle of sparkling apple cider and we also got a case of canned asparagus (he worked on the trucks at a cannery)!! and we loved it all. Something we could/would use, no one needs another tchotchke etc.

I have the same little handheld vacuum. I got it so my son could help with chores. It’s his job to vacuum up all the crumbs around his spot at the table and little bits from craft projects.

Hannah I love how baking soda mixed with cinnamon and a bit of orange essential oil makes the kitchen sink so shiny and makes it smell divine. You might like to try it as it is cheap and nontoxic.

Living in such a cold state like Maine you have to use dryer sheets. Especially in the winter. The static on clothes can get pretty bad more on colder days. My question is do you think the dryer balls work better? Would it be worth it to me to use them instead of buying so many dryer sheets? I get all my cleaning supplies at the first of every month thru Grove Collaborative. If it’s worth it I will get the dryer balls with my next purchase but I wanted your opinion first. Thanks Hannah. Two of our Christmas traditions- every Christmas Eve, before my son (now 14) goes to sleep, we read some stories in his bed. We read "The night before Christmas" "the polar express" and the Bible of the birth of Jesus. During the Christmas season, we also go get a pizza and eat it in the car and look at Christmas lights.
