Thanks! They are from my grandparents old store they ran. I painted the tops of them. They used to hold penny candy in their store. These were the last that were useable. I hold them dear to my heart and think of them daily when I use them!

I purchased me a roaster like you have. Talk about wonderful!! I have crockpots too but the roaster is the bomb!

Why not have chili in August? You eat other hot foods. 😆 I’m with you…fall is my favorite season too! Cooler weather, colorful leaves, pumpkin everything, football and hoodies. 🍁 Thanks for sharing your chili starter recipe. I need to do this.

About how many tomato varieties and how many plants to accomplish all the great canning recipes? I have a very small garden (10x10 small) with limited sun and I'm trying to grow as much as I can.

So this year I have about 80 tomato plants. 10 varieties, just because I like the colors of them . You could just grow 1 or 2 larger varieties. Last year I think I had 30 plants. And it all depends on how many people are in your home. I think 5 tomato plants would be great for 2 people. You can do smaller batches in your crockpot of all the different things, and just repeat the recipes until you have the amount of each you want. Since I make most of our food from scratch and I have 4 people to feed on most days, I grow a lot more than most people do. Just start small and each year do a bit more of you can. The important thing is that you are growing your own food- and that’s something you should be proud of!! Feel free to ask me any questions you have- you know I love to help 💗

@@Our_Urban_Homestead That is so awesome to have that many plants. There are 4 of us and I want to be able to can all the recipes you showed us. I have to be much better at planning out my space. I'm new to gardening, it's my 3rd yr. but my first of starting everything from seed! I am super proud of myself that I have grown food for my family. I just have to slow down to preserve it all. I'm a bad record keeper and I was even worse with tags. knowing when things are ready is a bit tricky. Tomatoes and peppers I can recognize and feel when they're ready but all the other stuff not so much. It's just me doing everything and I admit I am struggling with keeping up. But I appreciate your videos and even more that you answer questions and offer so much help. That is really kind of you. Im downriver in Taylor... if you are ever coming this way let me know. I love to meet you again properly this time. lol

It’s great for a chili Bloody Mary- we do that during football season as a fun and different drink. I make chili cheese burritos with it too!

Would vinegar work to sub for the lemon juice for water bath canning this sauce?

I think the vinegar would definitely change the flavor. If you are an experienced canner, you don’t need to add it at all if you’re comfortable with that. But if you are a new canner- definitely get bottled lemon juice to have on hand for canning! I try to show my recipes the correct way for beginning canners.
