For me, I prefer where Lewis chooses not to meet his mother because after living in the future, he realizes the past is behind him, and the message of the movie is "Keep moving forward."

All the same though, I feel like it could be nice if they all sat down to a meal at the end, ready to celebrate, when a special guest arrives and is revealed to be her, with a heartfelt message that she was always proud of her son, and was sorry that she couldn’t do more when he was younger, but that everything happens for a reason, and that she’s glad she’s had a lifetime to spend seeing what her adult son has done and how his inventions have changed the world.

@ In all fairness though, it wouldn’t be changing the past if he still connects with her in his future. I, for example, come from a family who is all adopted. Several of my siblings have opened their files to learn about their biological parents to meet them and thank them for giving them a chance at life and to meet their halfblood siblings. For my brother, he even attended a family get together where he learned his two immediate younger half brothers look near-completely identical to him, except for that they stood one or two inches shorter.

I think I understand WHY they didn't make older Goob wake his younger self up instead of Lewis. It's because the moment that the younger Goob is woken up and helps them win the game, the older, decrepit Goob would...disappear. All that he learns, and all the change he gets, it's just gone, because there'll be a different, better Goob in the future who's not bent on revenge. However, it would've been a nice and sad scene for old Goob to wake up young Goob, and Lewis being next to him happy, just to realize old Goob's about to disappear, and old Goob just goes like "You don't have to be sad, Lewis. We'll meet again, after all. All you have to do is keep moving forward.", and disappears.

Yes in a way it would’ve. But the only problems is Doris not doing anything and Goob not realizing that Doris was just using him.

Wilbur brought Lewis to the future then he disappeared from existance so if he disappeared from existence that means he could not have gone back in time to bring Lewis to the future and he would therefore no longer be in the future. Yes! It would have been better for him to be responsible for his future, but that would have made it easier and less dramatic, that’s why they decided to take it of, so he could not be fixed since childhood and still act up as a hurt and traumatized person.

I believe the reason why they cut out Goob waking himself up is because there is a massive futuristic time machine sitting 10 feet in the air beside a baseball game. It looked rediculous and thus was cut to Lewis waking Goob up as it made more sense.

If you wondering why Wilbur's voice sound different in the deleted scenes it was because his VA voice hadn't changed yet. By the time the movie was complete, his voice has changed into what we hear now.

I actually think it's good they changed that scene with Bowler Hat Man, because the message of the movie is keep moving forward and it's contradictory that his solution would've been going backwards, plus Lewis needed to see how his actions affected Goob, him falling asleep wasn't something he did because of his own actions but Lewis', what was Goob's fault was the way he reacted and behaved after that, if maybe Bowler Hat man talked to himself and told him the opposite of what he told Goob at the start of the movie and said something like "you need to let this go, you are more than that failure, revenge won't give you anything" I could see it as him controlling his own future

TBH , I prefer the deleted scene about Bowler Hat Guy wake himself up better. (It's a closure to him , and enforce the main concept of "keep moving forward"......as he finally moved on from all this years of bitterness before being erased by the world.. In the final version of the movie we got , even though Michael from the "fixed" timeline got his happy ending......the Bowler Hat Guy from "original" timeline didn't. Behind the camera , he was left confused and unsure about his life from that point forward , until his existent became erased by the universe and snap into the "happier" Michael from the "fixed" timeline , with no memories about being the Bowler Hat Guy , therefore the OG him never got the closure he deserve.)

I feel like removing the first deleted scene was a smarter choise, because it would both retain the story's emotional tone and because in the final cut version we see Lewis take responsibility for keeping Goo awake the whole night. Even as a kid, I realised that that scene was Lewis rectifying his mistake of keeping Goo awake the whole night.

I think they finished some of these in the DVD blu-ray edition. I remember a lot of these scenes in color and fleshed out, but NOT in the actual movie. Very well put together video by the way!

Well, in terms of the deleted scene where the grown-up goob wakes up his past self, it wouldn't made sense with the timeline as the bowler hat guy wouldn't have existed since his future would've been changed and the whole reason for the movie's plot to exist would've disappeared. in retrospect, Lewis was the one who woke up all night long for his invention, Goob is an indirect casualty. Having Lewis know about this would not only saved his current Goob but also shows to future Goob that he always be his friend.
