Game lore and animal behavior Diablos is a proud species that usually attacks equals head on in order to show dominance.. A rathalos main weapons isn't it's fire, it's the poisonous talons But to answer your question, it's not AI, A turf war is a scripted event. Deviljhos are far more a threat than a rathalos.. deviljhos are considered in the same level as elder dragons, even capable of killing elder dragons. But between nergigante and teostra or kushala?? I get that nergigante won, but that he treated them like trash?? They are in the same level, they could've defended themselves

Except Bazelgueuse always picks a fight with a Deviljho as soon as it spots it. The "defense mechanicsm " you say is bullshit. It's part of his biology, you attack bazel, you get fucked that's it. The same happens when it's the hunter vs the bagel, use a great sword or any melee weapon and you are most certainly getting a loose scale exploding in your face. Capcom already stated "they are equals" but people like to think Jho is stronger and if "bazel didn't have its sscales" it would die. That's like saying if Jho didn't have its legs it would die as well.

Air to ground battle is inherently unfair (which is also why anjanath is not the apex of the jungle; despite being almost as strong as a diablos (their turf war sees anja try to do the same thing jho did here to blos but it isn’t qs powerful so it can only drag diablos around, not straight up lift him up, diablos can tho) simply can't deal with a rathalos; implied ecology suggests that rathalos arriving at the new world threw Anja's dominance of the forest outta whack) so where pure strength is being compared alongside some other factor, those will come into account. A flying wyvern will still be able to peck at jho before getting absolutely trounced but on the ground, where only pure strength is being compared diablos can't hope to do anything.

I remember a Deviljho wrecked a Tzitzi Ya Ku so bad that I actually felt sorry for it. Tzitzi went for a flash and Jho just snatched it up in his mouth and piledrived it to the ground for 900 damage. Rajang *rarely* feeds on Kirin (IIRC that's how they get the "Furious" modifier, lore wise). Meanwhile, Nergi's main diet is low-to-mid tier elder dragons, such as Chameleos, Kirin, Teostra, and those among that level. Rajang would get whooped by Nergi (although, it would stand a better chance than Jho, because of the lightning).

I was hunting a seathing bazelgeuse while a savage deviljho followed us and I shit you not the jho just focused on bazel and only attacked me if I got in the way. When I was placing some mega BB by bazel, deviljho jumped up, woke up bazel and then set off the mega BB killing him. He then did a smoke breath victory roar and yeeted himself off of a cliff.
