The 2nd phase absolutely slaps in context. You are basically fighting a mysterious alien threat and the contrast of the futuristic dubstep with the normal fantasy orchestra really nails that point home and makes it feel that much wilder.

Im not against it and its pretty sick hearing all those whale sounds, its literally WHALE DUBSTEP but I just dont like how theres no movement to it, too slow for what they were trying to achieve. Not as fast paste or urgent as Polumnia Omnia's last half, as that half made it seem all the more "We have to hurry, we gotta stop this creation of a God and save the people of Sumeru". The dubstep phase just seems like, we're just brawling. No rush to prevent Fontaine's prophecy, just... there.. fighting. Though I mean I guess I am comparing a literal almost to be Fatui God to some dude name Surtalogi "The Foul"'s pet. For me, Narwhal phase >>>

​@@ichiroudesu_.Man, i understand why you dont like that much, but the slow passed thing here fits perfectly, because its not that much urgent of a fight. The phase clearly shows how they are all about slow but strong attacks, sometimes it felt even like the attacks he did were synced with the song. For me, this slow paced dubstep fits perfectly. But yeah, Narwhal phase >>>

​@@ichiroudesu_. Ditto. The starts slaps a lot but thats all, the rest of the song doesn't feels that great as how the first dark electronic chorus slaps with all their might. If the rest of the song was that epic with and epic orchesta with the whale dubstep (lol) as the main flavor, could be really awesome. Something like a chat between teyvat and a being from another world.

Out of context, it's understandable the confusion with the 2nd phase theme because it's so alien and different compared to all Genshin themes. Try looking for La Vaguelette next!❤

the 2nd phase of this boss is we devoured into it's black hole like stomach . and inside it's stomach there's like shadow knight guarding it and we must fight him to get out from the stomach. the lore of this whale is kinda based from myth that there gigantic mystic whale that swim from galaxies to galaxies. and thus thats why the 2nd phase kinda like alien like vibe? anyway this song really headbanging XD

I know this is just my interpretation of the music here and we might never know the full reasoning behind the choice of music for 2nd phase, but i think they literally went "it's big brain time" when making this boss theme. For phase 1 when you're fighting the whale you get that familar genshin boss theme, classical orchestral performance with some modern elements mixed in with a bit of latin choir. But then they throw a curveball in 2nd phase because you're literally fighting a being out of this world. The sudden shift in music genre is supposed to represent the suddenty and absurdity of the situation. The enemy design is VERY Honkai Impact 3rd inspired too. Dubstep and EDM genres sound otherworldly so imo they're a fitting choice for an otherworldly enemy

I think there needed to be a good smooth transition from phase to phase. But in the fight, you get sucked inside the narwhal for phase 2 so cinematically there is a pause.

Well, we're only listening to people's rips of the game's audio files. The final album mix may have a final single mix or may split them into two tracks, can't be sure.

Thanks for the reaction, I loved the dark choir in the first part 👍. For some more traditional orchestral pieces from the Genshin soundtrack, I would recommend Inevitable Conflict, Irresistible Force, or Seething Animosity (maybe together in one video since they are all quite short and similar style).

This is probably unpopular, but I love the first phase so much more than the second one. The vocals are just so good, and the music is so epic

This one of the only battle theme that is actually confusing out of context. I would rather them make the battle themes stand on their own, such as they did with Signora and Tartaglia etc, but the music is still really good in context so I suppose I cannot too ungrateful.

the facial expressions of disorientation are gold. it'll be a whale before genshin players admit to themselves that the time of the great boss themes is gone
