I would always say dogs can understand a conversation with a human. And people would think I was crazy when I would talk to animals, especially dogs. This proves my point that I was right.
@Ann963Ай бұрын
❤ Humans can understand before they can speak. Our vocal cords and fine oral muscles take years to mature, but toddlers and even babies understand sooooo much. This is even more true of mute or non-speaking adults! So it’s silly that being able to verbally speak is such a requirement for living independently (it is a huge obstacle).
@shirleychavez487010 ай бұрын
I once had a very smart poodle who was the smartest dog I’ve ever had. He had a lot of language he understood. Whenever a new person would come to our house, he would turn to me so I could tell him that person’s name then he always remembered their name. He would also tilt his head just like Bunny does and you could see those cogs turning. You can see that Bunny is much more communicative than Otter. I think that Bunny really likes to communicate with buttons because she can express what she wants to to her mom.❤
@ethelryan25726 күн бұрын
Bunny is truly exceptional. Otter is not dumb and his occasional ventures into the abstract suggest to me that he is learning primarily from Bunny. This adds an interesting filter to it - not a human teaching a dog to verbalize in human spoken language but a dog teaching a dog how to speak human. I might be totally wrong, but that's my impression.

As an autistic person who needs consistency and predictability in a similar way to Bunny, I relate to the repeated “concerned” in the last clip😂 When I was growing up (and tbh now as an adult) and my parents would say “ok we’re going now”, but they still had to put on their shoes or find their keys, it threw me off SO MUCH. I FEEL you, Bunny!!
@awandezwane150011 ай бұрын
I think that "soon" "good" "medicine" is probably Bunny's way of expressing that her medicine makes her feel better when she is feeling ill. Also, when she was talking about her dream, it was so endearing. I bet in the dream Bunny and dad have full blown conversations where they understand each other 😂♥ So the doggies just think about their humans all day - it's so adorable and beautiful. I just love Bunny! She is so cute!

I wish Alexis would give Bunny more time to think. It totally had second-language processing lag “I know this word, I KNOW I know this word; dammit what is the formal second person singular verb form” vibes. You can’t advance in fluency unless your interlocutor is patient.
@cacatr449511 ай бұрын
@@user-hd9vf8iv6z You would do well to watch a lot more videos on this channel because your comment here is inaccurate. Bunny communicates for real, there are many examples, whether about her ouchy belly (vet found digestive problems), her ouchy ear (vet found an ear infection), the "stranger ouch paw" where owner found a "stranger" = foreign object, sharp thorn in the matt between her toes and removed it. There is real communication going on. I've had dogs for almost forty years and we didn't have buttons, but my dogs communicated nonetheless.

I wish her mother wouldn't have given her suggestions, because that just makes it impossible to know if Bunny's answers were just to please mom, or if Bunny, for some other reason, just "chose" one of the suggestions. What she dreamt may not even fit any of those suggestions, but say she didn't have the words for it (E.g.; dad climbed a tree) and no way to explain that with the limited options of words she has available, so she chooses one of the suggestions her mother came up with just to give some sort of answer. Also, notice how Bunny didn't "light up", wag her tail, smile, open her mouth slightly and start breathing faster, or any other reaction or sign that implies that Bunny felt mom "got it right" with any of her suggestions regarding the dream about dad. Her tail fell down and she just repeated "dad". Either way, we can never know for sure, so that video clip isn't even eligible for study... Instead, her mother should have just given Bunny plenty of thinking time after she asked "What did you dream?", and not said anything more than that. Then Bunny's reply would be her own words, and we could eliminate any possibility of Bunny being influenced by her mother telling her what to say. That was a wasted opportunity in my eyes. But her mother probably didn't think of that at the time, hope she goes about it diferently next time, though. That would probably be a way more interesting video, I believe. Anyway, Bunny is super cute and a very intelligent lady. I enjoy watching her journey with the buttons. Edit: Grammar.

Bunny has a lot of adjusting now to be one of 3. Bunny was the one who inspired me to get buttons for Larkin, our mini poodle. Larkin has 2 buttons she uses regularly, Food and Outside, plus Poop which she uses properly. Last week, she did say Larkin Food, so I am thrilled. My husband tries to model Foodvforbher, but forgets ofter, however, he was amazed at her 2 word sentence! There are others that I model for her, Cuddle Larkin on one button, Love You on one button, Later, Soon. She's coming along. It's slow, but she is getting it. The big buttons were too big for her, so I moved to Fluent Pet. She's bern working out how to push them, at times using her nose, but now she does it well.with her paws. I am.waiting till after the holidays to get Fluent Pet Connect and then bring her older buttons closer to where I spend time on the couch. I.miss some of what she says because her buttons are now in the dining room which is central. Psych was my college major and I did well. Animal intelligence has always been a passion, esp when we had a pocket farm in Jericho Center, Vermont. I had a pet goose, a turkey who offered to mate with our lone female turkey, and a racist ewe. The goose was my shadow. Enough rambling.
