Ok but this is where continuity and consistency start going down the drain. Zhongli and Barbatos never went into some plane to counter the aging problem everyone has. 2000 years old and they still look and act perfectly fine. Yet Ei decides that this is her fate after a couple hundred years of being an Archon? Totally doesn’t make sense and it just paints Ei as a very selfish person. She couldve asked Zhongli for help or guidance. But instead THIS is what she thought would be the best for her nation? Did she learn NOTHING from her sister Baal? It’s just dumb. Inconsistent, and lazy writing honestly. But i digress! I want someone to explain something to me :/

From what I see she couldn’t learn from her sister as much because she was the fighter of the sisters. She left several remarks on how she is always perfecting the art of sword. Even when Venti talks about Ei in his voice lines he remembers the last time seeing her was as a kagemusha (影武者- shadow warrior translated to English). This shows that she was so focused on her craft that by the time her sister passed away during the cataclysm she never really saw the perspective her sister saw eternity. As to explain why she stays in the plane of euthymia we can speculate that a gnosis gives vast powers including immortality. Yae tells us that she has given her gnosis along time ago, so by implying to the audience a timeline that she gave it away before Zhongli traded his and Venti got his stolen. The reason for this significance goes back to Venti explaining the value of a gnosis for which these items is a connection to Calestia (Yae backs up this statement as well) where which grants the holders special powers: including longevity. As we saw through the encounter of the two previous gods in the story, they had their gnosis before when doing such tasks for thousands of years and stay the same without the fear humans have with time. These to my is my understanding of why she is in the state that she is and why she is rash compared to her sister. I can see where you are coming from though where she could’ve consulted with Morax about how to lead, but how can she understand the concept of eternity with the god of contracts, or through freedom. Each god has a special aspect they have dominion over. These are my understanding of the story as a whole at this moment and is subject to change if is explicitly stated by mihoyo through an announcement or later story explanation.
