That was the gameplay focus at the time. They weren't aware of what we had in the story-mode realm. Honestly, my bosses never paid me much mind. Never sat in on motion-capture, talked to me about story theory, etc.

The stories are all pretty tag team related as well. You got the co-op with Rey and Batista which is self explanatory, you got 2 masked men teaming up to attack you in the Jericho story as well as finding unexpected allies to tag with, as Triple H you have to choose between 2 of the most iconic teams in wwe history, punk has to team up with dreamer in his story, Santino and finlay team up to end undertaker while he reforms the brothers of destruction with Kane, and Cena battles the better-than-utopia faction in his rtwm.

SvR 2009 RTWM saved the game. The removal of GM Mode and the awful camera angles made this game the worst game in the SvR series. RTWM is the only thing that has replayability in this game, it was the start of one of the most beloved story modes in all of WWE games.

So, a little background. SVR 2007 was a big game - first going all-in on 360 gen. So everybody bought 2008, which was actually weak sauce. When I came on and did RTWM, it took a while for sales to go up, because a lot of people felt burned by 2008. Then RTWM pushed review scores up, and word of mouth started getting around. That's why I always say: A game pays for its sins with the sequel. Look at Watchdogs 2 or Titanfall 2, for example. Way better than their predecessors, but people felt ripped off by the first so they didn't buy the superior sequel.

How did you get a triple threat at WrestleMania between Batista/Mysterio/Edge? I’m assuming Edge wins at No Way Out? And is there anything to unlock when you take the losing path like when Punk and Dreamer lost at Mania?

Yep you get the triple threat at maina by making sure either Rey or Batista loses to Edge at No way out. You also are forced to drop the tag titles back to Miz and Morrison in this path. I don't think there's any extra bonuses in the losing paths so no I don't think you unlock anything aside from a different ending.
