This is honestly one of my favorite scenes from Decendants, mostly because of the life lesson behind it. As it shows in the scene, everyone ducks for cover when Mal grabs the wand, and the reason behind it is due to her heritage being Maleficent and Hades. Everyone ducks because they expect her to grow up and be like her mother, but that truly not the case. No one truly becomes exactly like their parents, but depending on the type of love and recognition they are shown is how they either become better or worse than their parents. Originally when Mal and her friends had shown up to this side of the island, they had planned to steal the wand and let their parents free, but when it comes to Mal, Ben and her own self growth helped guide her out of that path of doing what her mother wanted and becoming worse than her.

I played Jane in my school’s musical and this exact scene was my FAVORITE! I loved being able to whip the wand around as if it were unhinged Then again, it was a bit sadder in the stage play considering they changed Jane’s motive from wanting to be prettier to wanting attention from her mother.
