Actually, this is explained. Most music was destroyed. Anything on the radios is just cause the number of holotapes any given DJ has is very limited so they play what they got. If you visit the third rail some postwar music by Magnolia is added to Diamond City Radio for one for fallout 4

@@thedoodoobrain8944I kinda love that about the ambient songs though. The songs playing on your pip boy are the only link you have to what the world was like before it ended. When you turn the radio off, you remember that almost everything you love is gone, and the little irradiated crumbs that remain are fought tooth and nail over. I love Fallout.
