A lot of folks heard this wrong. It is NOT ethnic minority federal employees hired through DEI that are affected. It is the government agencies assigned to promote and enact DEI policy and training that are being shut down and, as a consequence, the staff of those departments and programs will be placed on leave. That is who is affected.

DEI is just a polished up version of Affirmative Action, which I lived through and have first hand knowlege. There were % goals for hiring based on ethnicity. The ultimate effect, which came of no surprise, is lowered standards, decreased productivity, brought about mediocrity, decreased employee morale, was very devisive, was very demotivating, compromised achievement, perpetuated inequality by discouraging them to srive for their best. That is just to name a few - I was in management and lived through it. Affirmative Action was an abysmal failure, not producing the desired results and so is DEI.

Not true. Blacks usually work hard to prove they belong. I was hired because I'm black. Don't confuse budgetary action with either federal funding or revenue actions. This won't save any taxpayers any money. The House Ways & Means Committee, sets tax rates. This action did not change you current tax rate. Congress also controls the dollar amount that each federal program receives. They fund the federal programs via an "annual" funding bill (which Congress has kicked down the road with every Continuing Resolution). This action did not change the funding level of any federal program. Now, the President DOES control the BUDGET, which is how the dollars are allocated in each federal program. This action DID change how the dollars for each program are allocated. So, instead of allocating X dollars to DEI, he's now allocating the same X dollars to, say, buying new office furniture. Eliminating DEI is a budgetary action which does not save the taxpayer any money, regardless of whether you believe DEI has merit or not.

DEI here is referring to the DEPARTMENT within a particular arm of the federal government. And the department is in charge of things like reviewing metrics, making sure that testing processes are not adversely impacting particular groups, ensuring that disabled individuals who are employed there have appropriate accessibility, etc. These departments do a lot to make sure that things are fair for EVERYONE. For the record the practice of DEI was never intended to hire unqualified individuals. It was to make sure qualified individuals who were not able-bodied white men, could still have a fair shake at the opportunity. You will soon see that this has broader implications than we are prepared for.

The fact that they know who the DEI hires are is the exact opposite of being diverse (anti-racist), equal (not different than active the), or inclusive (they are now being excluded). I'm all for zero DEI hires. Earn your place and earn your pay. Either you can do the job you're applying for or you can't. For everyone talking about merit one of the purposes of DEI is to address how there are biases affecting hiring in which minorities are often overlooked despite being qualified. Biggest example lately: Referring to Kamala Harris as a DEI hire and ignoring her experience and qualifications.

What experiences and qualifications? She slept her way to every position she ever held. Qualifications to be V.P = Woman and black. Failed on the 2nd part because she isn't black. Born in Canada, so Not qualified to be President. Never should've got the nomination which requires you to be a native born American citizen; she is a naturalized citizen!
