So nice to see Vixen featured here. I was fortunate enough to spend some rime working with them back in the day when I lived in Minnesota and I can tell you they're all lovely ladies and extremely talented. Roxy Petrucci is a beast of a drummer and Janet Gardner has an absolutely incredible voice. I am privileged to be able to say that guitarist Jan Kuehnemund was a close personal friend, a fantastic guitarist and an all around beautiful human being. Her loss was a great and painful tragedy. I cried a lot, think of her often, and miss her terribly to this day. Vixen were somewhat written off as a lightweight label-created band and not reallly taken too seriously back then. An unfair criticism in my view. They are all extremely talented musicians and never really got the credit they deserved. RIP Beautiful Jan.

I was looking at this comment and I thought Wait a minute that's the Drummer Roxy. I was in the Navy (1977-1990) when I bought Vixens Albums. I saw a girl (5) with her mom with Kiss makeup on and talked to her and she said her daughter likes Kiss since she saw them on Scooby-Doo and she liked the drummer. So she brought her a Drum Set. I told her the names of bands with Female Drummers and to look up their videos because Women can Rock just like the guys. Fanny, The Runaways, Vixen, The Warning, Liliac and more. Rock On Roxy.

So the iconic all-female rock band you should know about is called the Runaways. The guitarists were Joan Jett and Lita Ford. They were a late 70's punk rock band. I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan; I don't think the music has aged well. But if you want to check them out, the song you want is "Cherry Bomb." Not too much other female hair metal out there, but there were a few more notable female-fronted bands in the 80s: Scandal, "Goodbye to You" Till Tuesday, "Voices Carry" Quarterflash, "Harden My Heart" Berlin, "The Metro" The Pretenders, "Middle of the Road," "Don't Get Me Wrong," "Back on the Chain Gang" I am so thrilled you did this song, by the way; enjoy the weekend!

The Pretenders, now, the lead singer/songwriter Chrissie Hynde is in a class all by herself and the whole band plays tight, clean and with feeling. To get a sense of just how fun they are I'd say *"Middle Of The Road"* is a great intro followed by any of their tunes though in *"My City was Gone"* you feel what she feels, more than a bit somber...*"Brass in Pocket "* I first heard being lipsynched by a teenybopper actress on *"The Greatest American Hero"* all those gears ago... Great suggestions and Thanks S.W.

Jan kuehnemund was the founder of vixen and she will be ever remembered as one of the most beautiful women that ever graced the stage. We lost her way too soon and the other band members after some considerable time decided to carry on Jan's vision and we love them for it because this was an incredible band that could not just be allowed to go by the wayside into history. They were too beautiful to talented and frankly just too goddamn good to let go away!

Another all female band…90’s on…LUSCIOUS JACKSON…I really love pretty much everything they do, sassy city vibe…Naked Eye..Deep Shag…so many more, very talented! Happy Female Friday 🤘🏼💚🌌 ...BTW, it honestly didn't matter how good any of the female rockers were back in the 80s J, none of them were appreciated or well-thought-of really it was all about the dude's! Lita Ford changed a lot of that she was more accepted than a lot of them especially after her duet with Ozzy but honestly NOW is their Hayday... looking back and giving him props for what they were, so thank you for doing what you do and finally giving all the underrated talent so much ❤... I actually do remember Vixen opening for someone tho I can't remember who, I remember everyone making fun of them and making plans to show up when they were done, so ya know feminism has come a long way as far as it still has to go LOL

Awesome...Love Vixen, so glad you played it. Another mostly female band J think you would love is the Corrs singing Breathless. The band consists of 3 sisters, one sings lead, another is a fabulous drummer, one of my favorites. Their brother plays guitar, and while he is very good, you hardly notice him. They are an Irish band, the lead singer has an awesome voice.

I had a guitar instructor whose band played the opening act for Vixen back in the day. I was lucky enough to get backstage and meet the women of this band. Back in the 80's big hair and platinum blondes were the shit but to me the drummer, Roxy Petrucci was my favorite. She was already my favorite of the band, and I think my guitar teacher knew that, so that's how I met her. She was awesome! I was probably 16 or 17 but she made sure to give me some flirtation. I was in Heaven! She was so cool to me! I met the other women as well. They were all really nice to me.

As you've noticed, musical tastes changed in the early 90s, moving away from glitzy hair metal and toward edgier, more experimental rock. The alternative rock movement of the early 90s produced a number of notable female-centric acts, including the Breeders ("Cannonball"), Veruca Salt ("Seether"), Liz Phair ("Supernova"), L7 ("Pretend We're Dead") and Luscious Jackson ("Naked Eye"). All are worth checking out, if you ever wanted to move in that direction.

Female hard rock drummer? Check out Skillet. They go pretty hard. Jen Ledger kills the drums with singing. The band is actually a Christian rock band that can jam with the best if them. Some songs Hero Monster Awake and Alive

Jan Kuehnemund was the lead guitar player, unfortunally she passed away in 2013 from cancer. She was so taleented and beautiful RIP Jan. Also FYI when you see the guy with the Poison jacket....That is actually the drummer Rikki Rocket from Poison. He was friends with Vixen and made a cameo in the video.

For Hard core female bands you need to look outside of America. Japan has more than a few all female hard rock/metal bands with good followings like Band-Maid and Lovebites. Lovebites is more power-metal/speed metal while Band-Maid is Hard Rock/Metal. Both of them have a lot of videos of their live performances also so you can see them raw.

@@thefuzzman Actually no I didnt forget them. Odds would have been that they picked one of their newer songs and be turned off to Japanese music since their new material is garbage and also Babymetal is not all female, the musicians are men.

There's an all girl band that is recently starting to become famous. They are called"The Warning". They play 70's, 80's, to 90's style rock. They are all sisters and are so good they were asked by Metallica just recently to do a cover of one of their songs for Metallica's anniversary album. They teamed up with Alessia Cara to do their version of Metallica's "Enter Sandman". I'm surprised you haven't reacted to it yet, cuz many have. @michaelmacdermott63403 жыл бұрын
@@marybloody615 yep! If you read, what all the bands were asked to do, was "To cover any song of their choice, but make it their own as a tribute". So yeah, they rock it there way, same lyrics, different order, but then at the end they bust out the original rif and drum fills to totally play tribute. Very tastefully done. Don't you think?
