Well that was unique fight, also way to go bringing some blasts from the past and some fun mini encounters. The Feywild looks so fun to play in.

Rangers ARE underpowered, technically speaking. class tiers of power aren't measured in combat ability. They're measured in game flexibility. A wizard is considered one of the most powerful classes because they are useful both inside and OUTSIDE of battle-especially outside of battle. a few arrows to speed up an encounter? good. spells to go to entirely different planes, divine answers, see traps and enemies, make protection while asleep, summon things to help in travel and battle without needing a fighter to tank, and so on? much better. The reason people say its underpowered is a comparative thing, because while 5e is much closer in power levels between the classes than 3.5/PF, and thus every class is effective to a degree, its the little details that edge rangers down to being less effective than others, its just that this sort optimization of thing doesn't matter in this kind of game thats low-optimization.

Ranger is still, through lens of optimization, the strongest martial class. Rangers get alarm, which can be cast at early levels to "make protection while asleep" sooner than a wizard can get Tiny Hut. Rangers also get Conjure Animals, a spell that is so strong, most DM's ban it, because conjured animals out-tank Fighters. That's also not factoring in Goodberry, which completely invalidates rations. Is Ranger as strong as a Wizard or Cleric? No, but are they better than Paladin, Fighter, Barbarian, Monk, and Rogue? Absolutely! This problem mostly has to do with the lack of RP mechanics.

Welcome to Pi's Nit-Picks where for personal reasons I go through new episodes of The Unexpectables and nit-pick it of any instance where how they play and RAW don't line up in a cinemasins-esque manner. Spoiler alert: because of how this works, I might have to go into spoiler territory but I'll try to be subtle about it. Disclaimer: I am not telling anyone how to play dungeons & dragons. It's their game, not mine. These are not criticisms, these are nit-picks. I’m not trying to antagonize anyone, I’m a fan just like you. Nit-Picks: 41:25 : They would not have to write their names into Esme’s Book of Shadows again after a long rest as the names can only be removed by Esme herself. 1:04:05 : This ruling is in direct conflict with Monty’s earlier ruling on episode 167 where she states that being able to cast a spell without an action is unique to Task’s aspect and would still take an action for Greckles to cast fly. 1:18:30 : A natural twenty has no special benefit when it comes to saving throws, except death saving throws. I realise this is likely a house rule, but it’s not one I particularly agree with. 1:19:58 : The Narzugon’s Diabolical Sense trait doesn’t allow it to know the exact location of good-aligned creatures automatically, it instead grants advantage on perception checks against them, which is useless while it is in the fog cloud where it’s blinded. 1:20:10 : Narzugons don’t actually have Devil’s Sight. 1:21:35 : In a purely mathematical sense, Greckles would be 50.99ft away. 1:43:07 : The Narzugon wouldn’t have to make the saving throw, as the Guardian of Faith only triggers when a creature moves to a space within 10 feet of it, not away. 1:51:05 : Because Panic is poisoned by the Bearded Devil, he couldn’t gain any healing from the potion. Notably, if he hadn’t taken the healing, he would’ve had to suffer the effects of an infernal wound he got from the glaive of the bearded devil. 1:54:49 : Panic should’ve rolled a Constitution saving throw against the poisoned condition. 1:55:15, 2:31:30 : You cannot use sneak attack if you have disadvantage on your attack roll. 1:58:30 : You can only deal the damage from Colossus Slayer once per turn. 2:05:20 : Panic makes his concentration checks with his own modifier, rather than the T-Rex’s. 2:08:05, 2:38:00 : Even though a disarm attempt involves an attack roll, that doesn’t mean it replaces only one attack from your attack action. 2:09:34 : It takes an action to doff a shield. 2:16:57 : In the examples given for how you can interact with objects without using an action, picking up a dropped weapon is one of the examples given. 2:39:56 : If Remy hadn’t given his sword willingly, the Narzugon couldn’t’ve disarmed him, as an Eldritch Knight cannot be disarmed of their bonded weapon. Also, sorry for the wait, I’ve been busy with school.
