This came out at the perfect age, I just have been single digits. When I watch now, I see that probably every single jump in this montage would have totalled the car and put its occupants in a hospital for months. Love how they just grin and shake it off like each jump was a speed bumb.

@@martinquerre9614 parts didn't cost as much back then. Not like prices we have today plus this show was very popular back in those days. I heard rumors that the repair crew bought all the 69 charger parts from all the junkyards in that state.

It was probably one of the best shows on TV ever for car nuts. As a kid growing up it was definitely my favourite show ever. But nowadays these Dodge Chargers are really scarce and hard to find , apparently because so many were wrecked on this show. Oh well better to have lived than not lived at all.

Love how a ramp is always available at the exact second the Dukes need one. Road construction, always dirt ramp, scrub brush, always a pipe ramp or wooden ramp, barn in the way, hidden wooden ramp next a pile of hay bales, train to jump, always a perfect platform ramp right before the train, before a gulley, always a perfect dip/jump to launch 50 feet vertical and untold feet horizontally. Like Papa Smurf always said, “Amazing, simply amazing”!

@MrZillas
@MrZillas 7 жыл бұрын
Yes. They used for each jump another car, because the old one was totally destroyed. Same with KITT: One jump and the car was wrecked. OF COURSE, Michael Knight also NEVER needed a seat belt. Also a head rest was totally unnecessary. They also used a 200kg metal plate in the trunk of the General Lee, so the car was landing (almost) on its 4 wheels. Normally, a car would ram its front into the bottom.

My personal favorite one was the Carnival of Thrills jump. General Lee leaves the ramp then starts nosing down to the stacked cars, then in the next shot he's nose up and landing rear end first in the asphalt. wish they'd have edited it just a bit better. Lol

Actually, for Knight Rider they did indeed build a jump car that was re-usable for the smaller jumps. It had a fiberglass body and was the car with the silver flat bottom. The larger jumps still used stock Pontiacs that were sacrificed for spectacular scenes.
