It's a good suggestion, if it weren't for the fact that the other spells from other games didn't continue either, like Poseidon's fury in GOW 2 but we didn't see Kratos using it in Ghost of Sparta, nor are the Spells from Ghost of Sparta in 2. I believe that Betrayal takes place after Ghost of Sparta because the synopsis of Betrayal says that it is one of Kratos' last adventures as God of War, in Ghost of Sparta he had just become the God of War, as if he was still in the process of "coronation".

just one thing that doesn't make sense. Betrayal comes after God of War 1, since it is revealed to us at the beginning when Kratos defeats Ares, and he continues to retain the same powers and weapons that he obtained throughout God of War 1.

Ascension as a game realised later than GoW1 But action is taking place before GoW1 It's first game chronigically placed in times where Kratos didn't want to serve for Ares anymore and story is about to defeat furies that imprisoned him for betrayal. This was only game where there is no appearance of any god. Gods started appearing from chains of olympus. At the end of Ascension,Kratos burnt and left his home and followed the path to city of Attica
