We're a 128-year old family-owned company that generally avoids reacting to negative comments on our social media threads. Mostly because it's a distraction from our continued mission to design, build, and ship the best, most durable and functional workwear for anyone who earns their keep, at work and at play. But we've noticed a little spillover of negativity from the comments section of a recent Yahoo! News article. Unfortunately, that's going to happen, especially during a time when there seems to be a heightened level of politicizing on virtually every topic, regardless of political stripes. So, we're going to stay true to our values and remind our customers that our focus is on the one trait that our family of Carhartt wearers share: an uncommon, courageous work ethic they apply to every aspect of their lives. We're proud that we've highlighted and featured real women who Outwork Them All in this film. We've spent some good, quality time with them in the field. We stayed on their ranches. Ate dinner with their families. And just rolled the cameras as much as possible. We were reminded once again that, for decades, hard working women have been wearing their Dad's old bibs, or have been buying our men's double-fronts. As evidenced by the gear they're wearing in our film, they don't have to anymore. Is a sixty-second film that exclusively features women somehow special treatment? Well, considering that we have almost 200 videos/films on our KZbin channel alone that exclusively feature men, technically, the answer is: yes, special indeed. Are we trying to make some kind of political statement? Not in the least. Just an inspiring tip of the hat to our female customers and those we have yet to have the pleasure of gearing up. After all, we exist to serve anyone with an uncommon, courageous work ethic, applied to every aspect of their lives. It's who the men AND women are that we feature in all of our marketing materials. It's who we are. It's who we will always be. #OutWorkThemAll

Of course you do...it pats your back for something you haven't done. Just like if a man watches a video about how men fought for this country and feels pride...even though he himself never lifted a finger in that effort. Keep patting yourself on the back.

Hi there, team hex. Just a couple of things for you to consider: 1) Every woman featured in this film does what they are depicted doing for an actual living. And there are millions more like them, who'll likely help fill the estimated 31-million skilled trades jobs that will be left open by 2020 (due to baby boomers aging out of those positions). 2) As you've so deftly pointed out through several comments, the timing of our film is deliberately around Mother's Day for two reasons that we are not afraid to be transparent about: a) due to several years of demand, we've worked hard to develop our women's line to provide the same rugged performance and improved fits - and aim to raise more awareness of that fact b) just like the other 195 videos/films on our channel that exclusively feature men, we are staying true to our roots by finding real, hard-working people - not models or actors. 3) Even though you've worked hard tapping keys on this comment thread, we're not convinced your work ethic matches the women in this film. Should you upload a video of yourself exerting energy doing anything like the activities our friends in our film are doing, please share with us. 4) Gaming videos do not count.

This is a video by Carhartt, a company who makes workwear (in this case, workwear for women). It is honoring the women who would wear that workwear. Do not come here to talk about every other kind of women. While they are equally valued and important, this video is not about them. This video is also not about men or Father's Day, so don't look for that content in this video either. Just watch it and enjoy the video about WOMEN in jobs that require WORKWEAR.

No this video is for one thing....selling women work wear. They make you feel good with the video and try to "empower" you so you'll feel good and MAYBE buy their product. That's what this is about. What's sad is most people comments are missing this completely. They seem to like the video because it pats them on the back for something they don't actually do.

Yes. Guilty as charged, teamhex. We would very much like to gear up more women like the ones we spent time with out in the field making this film. You've exposed us. And so we'll clearly admit it: we'd like to sell more of the best, most durable workwear for women that money can buy. Good day, Sherlock.

So many men here who clearly don't know what they're talking about. If you've gone your whole life with pockets deep enough to fit your whole hand and a pocket knife in, don't come here thinking you understand women. As a single mama, I like to see a video showing women doing things that real women actually do: working hard, fixing things, getting dirty, playing rough, defying expectations and packing more grit and joy into a day than I've ever known a man to do. The video isn't what's empowering; the product is. Carhartt makes clothes that I buy so that I don't have to a) take the time to make my own work wear or b) settle for lame pants with pockets too small to be even remotely useful.

@mikenestle46797 жыл бұрын
There are lots of reasons. One of them is that some guys feel intimidated by women who don't need them. They prefer a clingy, decorative type who will provide a sense of manhood. In the USA, blue collar types especially have fallen into redundancy over the last twenty years. They need someone or some group to blame. Shrug it off. Carhartt is on the right side of history.

Oh, yeah - notice the sorts of guys who show the most negative 'tude - keep that memory in mind when you're looking for someone to spend time or make a life with.
@teamhex7 жыл бұрын
Because they're just patting your back to sell you their product. That's why some are down voting it. It's a marketing campaign, strategically done around this time to bring awareness to their product. Any sane person would know the number of women in these jobs is EXTREMELY small compared to men. No one is attempting to take away from what they do, but why is it special if you're truly equal? It shouldn't be a surprise if we're to honestly believe women are equal. Get it? It's honestly really easy to spot and understand, of course you need a good grasp on reality itself so most won't spot it. Is what it is.

team, do you post this negative woman hating rhetoric on every advertisement geared towards "Mother's Day"? It might be a hallmark holiday, but so are many other holidays. Mother's are special (just like father's are special) so why the hell are you posting such negative crap? Hateful in your heart much?

I welded for like ten years and its not recommendable to have long hair, nothing against women, this ads great, I just hate it when they do that welding with long hair or arms exposed crap on tv, you have hair like that youll likely catch it on fire, yeah theres stuff you can wear on your head so as not to burn it, but in 100 degree weather + welding you wont want to wear it, and yeah you can weld without sleeves, but youll look like some type of junkie with a bunch of scabs on your arms..
@angelwhispers20607 жыл бұрын
vaild. I haven't had long hair since my first welding class. but for the visuals to make it clear these are women in the ad... from a visual symbolism standpoint i get what the ad is doing. Let's face facts OSHA would have a serious fit if I went into work Monday in a Rosie the riveter style bandna
