Dear Sir, Although I am already 60 years old I am a newbie in this world of rc cars. I have a HBX 16889A PRO and I am now tempted by this M162/3 MEW4. I would like to be able to take good care of, do good maintenance, my RC Cars, so... If you can answer me I would appreciate it: -Throughout the life of these cars it is natural that lubrication is necessary.. From what I can understand, you can only access the parts that may need lubrication by demonstrating, right? Dismantling, for someone who doesn't have experience, can be ehh... a great adventure with a lot of things that can go wrong, especially when it comes to putting it back together. :-)) How often should lubrication be carried out? Should a special lubricant be used or should ordinary grease be enough? Thank you!
@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Жыл бұрын
Hello! Sixty years young. To be honest, I would initially on purchase strip and add grease. And as long as the lube doesn't leak out, and / or the rc gets submerged, that will probably do for the life of those components. In my experience, the components wear or break before the grease degrades. I use ordinary car grease, nothing fancy. Hope this helps. 👍
@ianmangham4570 Жыл бұрын
😮I'm the same age and still playing with toys , you can get away without greasing anything just so long as you let everything cool down, grease just helps run everything when the gears are hot.If you run the car in short bursts and let it cool down you're all good 👍🇬🇧🤠

Thanks for the review mate. It's a shame that things from Banggood take 60+ days to get to me in Australia. Before covid things were pretty good. I used to enjoy the old flash sales and items you can't find anywhere else. But I wouldn't buy anything from them these days unfortunately, It takes too long so i'd rather just pay the extra and get something in 4 days or so. I hope it's different for you guys in the UK or USA. Take care and thanks again.
@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Жыл бұрын
Normally, it will arrive here in the UK in around 2 weeks. Things got a little worse after brexit (I can feel everyone in the uk collectively rolling their eyes). Because the price went up and carriage started to be charged on some items. That and we weren't allowed to purchase some RCs and couldn't get a delivery from the Slovakian warehouse. Only the Chinese one for some reason. Apart from that business as usual! 👍👍

Any user forum about this car? I just bought one, but on the very first serious test run of 1.5 battery i already have a problem with the steering. I'll try again tomorrow to see if the problem is an overheated servo or worse if really the servo is broken already. I will disassemble to see if maybe a screw need tightening. The car runs great and fast, but if it can't handle 2 batteries of run time... Btw, It felt to me i came out of the box with too much toe-out.
@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Жыл бұрын
Dont forget that they are a budget truck. I think you have been unlucky as my brothers steering servo is still going stong. I will send a link to a metal geared upgrade for it though. Reduction gears and diffs seem to be the main gripe. Mainly because it spends most of its time on the back wheels!!! Brother has fitted a MJX wheelie bar too.
@petercokelaere1280 Жыл бұрын
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Thanks for your reaction! The car is still running, i guess i overreacted when i saw the wheels didn't come back to the straight position at the end of the driving session. It still feels, coming out of the box, the servo was better at straightening the wheels at stand-still, but i can't see i paid attention to it at that time. Tentative conclusion: Servo is fast but not that strong. I'll definitely keep an eye on in in the future. I would love it if you would post that link to a good (and cheap ;-)) servo upgrade grade. It goes without saying, i rewatched your video, liked it (100th like, yeah!) and subbed.

@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Жыл бұрын
In some respects, yes. It's definitely cheaper at the moment on Banggood. It went down to £65 at one point, which is a steal! There have been complaints about the transmission, especially the rear diff / reduction gear, which takes a hamering because of the power. Because it's on its back wheels all the time. My brother used the HBX rear diffs in his, which are steel gears rather than the powdered metal, and so far, they have worked a treat. Even up to almost 50mph!! Apart from that, they are very tough. Its been given absolute death, and nothing has broken, apart from the aforementioned transmission parts. 😀👍😀👍

Hi, I've been looking at 1/16 and 1/18 monster trucks because I wanted something cheap but durable to have some fun with. The Mew4 M163 ticked most of the boxes for me after watching this review so I've just ordered one from BG. I got the "Cyber Monday" two battery deal for £70.60, (even though it's now Wednesday), so still great value for money. It's good to know that the parts for it are interchangeable between RC's. Lack of spares availability has put me off some of the other options. Could you tell me if the MJX Hyper Go 16208 wheelie bar fits it (pt MJX 16120) If not could you recommend one that does please. Many thanks from Derek 🙂

Hola amigo.
@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Жыл бұрын
¡Hola!

I have heard some anecdotal stories about pins snapping in them. I'm wondering if the slightly smaller motor and less powerful esc in this one will increase longevity? So far, so good, though. Nothing has broken or dropped off. And my brother isn't particularly mechanically sympathetic 😁. He has also gone through several complete transmissions on his 16889, so time will tell!

Hello! I think the MEW4 buggy is on sale on Banggood at the moment at right money (there's a review coming). The MJX and HBX are very similar, especially in the transmission department. I would say the MJX's are slightly better quality, but only slightly. They are also a little quicker. The issues my brother has had with his MEW4 relate to the rear reduction gear and diff. Which has shredded itself, but i think this is down to it spending all its time on its rear wheels!! Which puts more pressure on the rear portion of the transmission.
