There are still rules on not giving information in an ongoing investigation because it can interfere with that investigation's results. The Republicans were throwing one of their big hissy fits about not having this information, so the treasury department was forced to give them the information in a classified setting. The Republicans were the ones who agreed not to disclose the information. Then, of course, Greene decided she didn't have to abide by that agreement. I agree that Congress needs to do their jobs and part of that is being present to do that job. However, people do not seem to understand that the representatives don't only do one thing. And thank goodness for that. If this was literally the only thing they were focusing on - although for some representatives it does seem like that the case - that would be a real problem. This is ONE subcommittee meeting, that just so happens to be televised. Most are not. Representatives are often in more than one subcommittee doing different things at different times and sometimes there are time conflicts. Just because someone is not at this particular meeting does not mean that are sitting at home watching Netflix. They could be in another subcommittee meeting somewhere else. They may be flying to an event of some sort. They may be on the ground in their home state dealing with some crisis there. They may be campaigning somewhere. Some may be sick. Some may be on leave for some reason. Some may be on vacation. There are a million reasons why someone might not be at this particular meeting. They are not required to be in every meeting.
