It's weird that the one transformers movie many considers to be the worst, might actually be the most respectful to the franchise. Think about it: 1.The Autobots are actually given dialogue, personalities, and even spoken names 2. The US Military is largely kept out of the action to allow the Autobots to do the bulk of the fighting 3. The human characters are more relatable and actually want to get involved in the transformers 4. The main villain is actually cool and does something in the movie 5. Finally, it tries new ideas like the transformers creators, the cyber-forming seed, and transformium.

I love this crew. First off, it's not the usual Transformers mix. Sure, we got Optimus and Bee, but there's no Ratchet, Ironhide, Bulkhead, Arcee, etc. None of these characters are A-listers, with the exception of Drift on occasion, so they got rare moments in the spotlight. And second, their dynamic. They feel like a group of apocalypse survivors who only hate each other slighlty less than the zombies. A most dysfunctional family. Their arguing and infighting is fun, not to mention fitting: they're reallly stressed out at being hunted to extinction, so they're going to snap really easily. Add onto that how ragtag this group feels: you have a former Decepticon, a mercenary, an Optimus fanboy, and a Teenage Muted Ninja Camaro. Their only connecting thread is their mutual respect for Semi-Truck Jesus, and he's got a lot of issues right now. This is a Suicide Squad-style crew, and I am here for it. 😆

Optimus has gotten most of them killed. Now all that's left are the bots that are to wild and violent to die easy.
