​​@@DorkieBebie And this is why I love this song and movie. As a physically undesirable guy myself, I relate to the Phantom so much. Whenever I'm listening to this song, I always imagine myself and the woman I am in love with singing this on our wedding day but alas, imagining is the best I can do. She may never know about my feelings for her since I can only admire her from afar but that's okay. I can settle with the thought that we exist in the same world and same lifetime even though she's in her early 60s while I'm in my late 30s. I am already thankful for that.

We sang these songs over 10 years ago when I was in choir. A few months ago I was overwhelmed, feeling alone, isolated, defeated. I was an emotional wreck. I heard in my head “let me be your shelter” And I thought “oh my goodness, what song is that?” I typed that into KZbin and came to this song. When it heard Raul’s soft gentle voice singing I started crying harder. God used this song to speak to me and minister to me 🥺😭😭 It was beautiful and comforting.

Phantom was very abused as a child.. held hostage at a freak show his face was burned by his mother.
