That's what makes her a legend. She isn't an autotune princess, she sings her own way and writes her own song.

Alanis was ahead of her time. She was my musical idol in the 90s. Her music moved me then and now that I'm approaching my 40s, it's on an even deeper level. No other artist has a voice and self-authored poetry like Alanis. She is legendary in my book.

Yes!!! It absolutely does. Makes me look back and laugh at how much we felt my generation related with this song in the 1990’s. That album is classic though. It will always feel relevant.

Alanis's Jagged little pill helped me through a very difficult divorce from a covert narcissist. As you can imagine belting out these tunes with her really helped me disperse a lot of anger and move on. For which I'm eternally grateful I still sing her songs today at sixty.

Possibly the best song on Jagged Little Pill. A stunning work from a brilliant album. "And all I really want is some Justice."
@alyschajohnson66682 жыл бұрын
THIS! JUSTICE! I felt that. CHILLS. At 15 I didn’t get it. The way she SCREAMS that. At 41 and some life behind me now I GET IT now, sister. Trust me, I get it. And her crazy, maniacal harmonizing right after? She’s breaking all the rules. I love her. BRUTAL. Yes ma’am!! I’m sorry she had to go through whatever influence this song at such a young age but this is priceless.
@michaelulbricht94382 жыл бұрын
Alyscha, a roommate of mine brought this home when I was in my early 30's and I happened to be playing my Stratocaster. Thinking it was going to be a basic "young angry White girl" catharsis, I was stupefied to be listening to a fully fledged work of art which the Country embraced en masse. At best it should have been a cult classic instead of becoming one of the best selling albums of all time. Glad you stuck with it and "grew into it." It truly is remarkable that a 19 year old could exorcise demons in such a cogent and coherent manner. Fortunately, I've usually treated Women well so I could listen to her masterwork with very little residual guilt. Alanis was like a siren savant to many males, instead of some "finger pointing harpy." I enjoyed your comment and hope that you're doing well and still keeping your ears and mind open. Take care, stay well & ✌!

Just because she has a unique voice does not make her a horrible singer. She is in a class of her own. Singers like her don't just pop out of nowhere, they're special. As for the public being stupid, I do believe they are stupid. But, at one point in time, they were able to agree and support someone as awesome as Alanis.
@Dubya3030 Жыл бұрын
Anyone who says Alanis has a horrible voice is a complete dipshit brainless wet fart of a human and I would literally not trust One thing they told me and I would completely shun them from my life. Preferably get them a ticket to Pluto and they can sit there for a little bit

Do I stress you out My sweater is on backwards and inside out And you say how appropriate I don't want to dissect everything today I don't mean to pick you apart you see But I can't help it There I go jumping before the gunshot has gone off Slap me with a splintered ruler And it would knock me to the floor if I wasn't there already If only I could hunt the hunter And all I really want is some patience A way to calm the angry voice And all I really want is deliverance Do I wear you out You must wonder why I'm so relentless and all strung out I'm consumed by the chill of solitary I'm like Estella I like to reel it in and then spit it out I'm frustrated by your apathy And I am frightened by the corrupted ways of this land If only I could meet the Maker And I am fascinated by the spiritual man I am humbled by his humble nature What I wouldn't give to find a soulmate Someone else to catch this drift And what I wouldn't give to meet a kindred Enough about me, let's talk about you for a minute Enough about you, let's talk about life for a while The conflicts, the craziness and the sound of pretenses Falling all around...all around Why are you so petrified of silence Here can you handle this? Did you think about your bills, your ex, your deadlines Or when you think you're gonna die Or did you long for the next distraction And all I need know is intellectual intercourse A soul to dig the hole much deeper And I have no concept of time other than it is flying If only I could kill the killer All I really want is some peace man a place to find a common ground And all I really want is a wavelength All I really want is some comfort A way to get my hands untied And all I really want is some justice...

Was he in her twenties when she wrote this song? I was 14 when this album came out and I remember mtv and vh1 seemed to market her as being older then I think she was at the time I dont think mtv knew what to do with her exactly as far as a persona went because she was such an Intelligent person. So many of the 90s female artists I grew up with sound as good today as they did back then...pj harvey, kim deal, tori amos, Liz Phair, courtney love, kat bjelland, gwen stefani, tanya donnelly, kim gordon, sheryl crow, jewel, and Alanis.

It really depends what she means by "Killer". In her "Thank you" song she says "Thank you terror", but there she is talking about her own internal terror. I think "Killer" might be a feeling, like shame for example.
