All ID’s are ‘going to be digitised’: Joe Hildebrand

Sky News contributor Joe Hildebrand says all ID’s are “going to be digitised”.
One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts has put out a tweet that there is a plan for a debate in the Senate tomorrow about digital ID’s coming to Australia.
Digital ID’s will include information such as driver's licenses, passports, proof of age cards, and more.
If Australia incorporates a digital ID, it will intertwine the government and a person’s online personal information.
Mr Hildebrand told Sky News host Paul Murray instead of looking back at needing physical products, we should be looking to make digital products “as secure as they can possibly be”.

Also, “the government doesn’t know you’re at a hotel” part is a lie. Exhibit A: I was at the hotel and the Australian newspaper magically published photos of me after they got my location from NSW Police. All they needed to do was launch a taskforce to find my name on a database through transaction history. Pay cash or use cards, they’ll find ya. We’re fucked.

Who will have access to these numbers, where will they be stored, will EVERYONE have a number or will there be exemptions like they were with vaccine exemptions I.e.judiciary, senior police et al. Will these numbers be kept WITHIN Australia or, like bank accounts, be shuffled off to the USA. A digital ID would need 3 parts in my view. 1.The government held information relating to the person (We already have that with tax, and social security numbers through mygov). 2. A hashed personal ID number for digital sign ups (This is only revealed to accredited players/businesses). 3. A Hashed public ID like a public nick (name). This is the public facing ID that cannot be related back to user name except via law enforcement under warrant etc.
