I am the same way. I'm 48 and I can't stand the way of this world. I do not watch anything but the TV shows from when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s. Tips should not be a burden on the consumers. Because employers do not pay fair wages, servicemen and women need good tips to survive. Many friends of mine stopped dining out because of the tipping culture and bad economy / why do we need to pay tips to the service lady and man for bringing the food to our tables and no other services? I am not complaining and want to know the meaning of giving tips. Many countries in Europe and Asia do not have tip culture. I think employers need to increase wages and give employees bonuses. I am an Asian immigrant; my mom worked at a restaurant ( washing dishes) to raise three kids. She did not have tips, but she had a fair salary and monthly bonus; her employer also paid her bonus (equal to one month's salary) at the year's end in the top of the monthly bonus. She raised the three kids with her wages. The tipping culture in the US has gone in the wrong direction.
