Chun did a much em better job this time, and the game did a great job on Ike’s character arc and personality. He’s not a noble, but a mercenary who had to grow up faster than most others due to the deaths of his mother as a child, and later his father before he was ready to fill in his shoes. That was tough to live through, with only what they had taught him left to help overcome the challenges of living up to his father’s swordsmanship and successfully avenging his death.

@@DatKooby I’m going to be honest I doubt it most (if not all) romantic subtext (regardless of who he is supporting) are complete fabrications of the English localization team (Princess Elincia is by far the WORST offender of this where it sets it up that they have feelings for each other in their supports but in the Japanese version it’s extremly platonic) Mainly in the Japanese version Ike falls more into the trope of the wandering Ronin whose only focus is on improving his swordsmanship. The thing people think of for him being gay is that his paired endings are with Soren and Ranulf where he goes on his journey (which he goes on regardless of what ending he gets) and either of them joins him……and this causes what I refer to the awakening effect. I would say a good chunk of the fans playing fire emblem now either got in with awakening or 3 houses where a paired ending ment romance….. that wasn’t necessarily the case prior to awakening I think there is a lot of people trying to put what they believe modern games should have and cram it into an old game Going to be honest if you were to time travel back to 03 04 when path of radiance was being developed and asked the writers Ike’s orientation, they probably would scratch their heads and say something to the effect of “we haven’t really gave it that much thought”
