MattyYoungcloudsArt Oh absolutely, I played a hand against Brian Hastings(he was killing time at a 2/5 NL @Parx while waiting for a seat at the 10/10 PLO). Once I realized who he was, I decided to take a weird line and got paid off. He looked thoroughly confused prior to making the river call. It almost felt like that Mike McD play against Johnny Chan, lol. Yeah these players have a big advantage playing against Brad, given they know who he is but he knows very little about them.
@QualityTheGamer5 жыл бұрын
@@datsumcrzysht I don't think they do have an advantage against himself at all really aha. Brad plays pretty conventional and these players are just pretty clueless tbh and got pretty lucky after awful pre flop play
@datsumcrzysht5 жыл бұрын
QualityTheGamer I agree that he’s likely better, but the edge these days are very small when playing good players. The 9, 3 hand was just a donkey play but the A 10 over shove hand would hold merit if they ranged him for a likely strong hand coupled with his style. Did they do it given a strong read or just playing like morons??? 🤷🏽♂️ But you’re likely correct. I usually give people too much credit, despite the amount of bonehead plays I frequently witness.
@QualityTheGamer5 жыл бұрын
SavedbyGrace tbh if they somehow did put him on a good hand fair enough but doing that is probably just losing value 95% of the time really
@datsumcrzysht5 жыл бұрын
QualityTheGamer I’m not suggesting that the play (A,10) was an optimal line in every situation but it was in that one. Remember when you first started playing and read about the magnitude of the error when playing a hand different than how you would’ve played had the cards have been face up? That’s the problem, we only realize our mistakes after the fact. Staying true to the thread, it’s established that GTO(Even if it was possible for someone to actually play 100% GTO live) doesn’t yield the most cash. It’s varying your play and exploiting a given situation. I don’t know what led to him making that decision but...if the probability of it being intentional/calculated was > 0, then he chose the optimal line in that situation. If he takes that line in many/every situation, then yes I agree that’s -EV.

@7:45 when the player in between tank folds I put him on a reasonably strong ace, AQ/AJ. Nothing else makes sense given the action to this point. This means the check raiser now has a very narrow value range, AT/A2s, 22, TT. The problem is he probably has even fewer bluffs. A lot of players at this level will show up with about 0% bluffs in this configuration, for this sizing. It's a pretty big exploit but I actually think we can find a fold here even though, as you note, we are at the top of our range (except for perhaps the occasional AT that we 3bet bluff ourselves).
@djsez8015 жыл бұрын
Brad mentions that he (Brad) was at the top of his range and would not have 3-bet pre-flop if he had TT. Why 3-bet AK, but not TT?
@cameronno60395 жыл бұрын
@@djsez801 generally AK is easier to play post flop. TT is almost guaranteed to have over cards on flop and could easily already be beaten by higher pocket pair pre flop. AK is even money with any non AA/KK pocket pair and dominates lower AX hands, so it just easier to be aggressive with.
@andrewbartel92595 жыл бұрын
This is correct. The type of player that jams that size there is easy to play against in the future but they often get you once with the unorthodox line when you overthink yourself into a call.
@djsez8015 жыл бұрын
@@cameronno6039 Heads-up TT is 55% favorite against AKs
@pugsnhogz5 жыл бұрын
@@djsez801 Simon Anderson that's with all 5 cards to come. The point of "playability" is that postflop, with AK, you either make top pair/very good kicker, or you miss. With TT there are a ton of 1- and 2- (even 3) overcard flops -- then what? How do you navigate the turn and river? That said I am not sure this is why we 3bet AK more often than TT; the main reason is that AK has good removal for AA and KK, which would often reraise our 3bet. TT blocks hands like AT that will probably fold to a 3bet anyway.

For me that call with AKs vs A10 was pretty bad. A good question that i always ask myself and helps me a lot is, would this particular opponent view this situation as a good bluffing opportunity given how the hand has been played so far and what i could be holding. Think of the hand from his perspective. He see's u 3 bet utg+1 preflop then on an A 10 2 rainbow flop you make a decent sized bet into 2 players. He has to figure u have a good ace. Also what bluffs does he have on that A 10 2 rainbow flop??? none. Would he just jam all in knowing u probably have a good ace and also utg+1 still in the hand. It's just a bad call

Strictly my opinion (and I stink), his river bet is definitely different than that on the turn (arm motions + hand on face). On the river, bet seems sheepish (weak, as in attempting to show weakness knowing he is strong) and with the bet size less than half pot, he is giving Brad almost 4 to 1 on the call knowing he is getting value. For what it is worth, I think you are correct in picking something up, however, not sure what/how I am stating it is accurate.

why not check behind with AK four way on 994 rainbow? small pocket pairs won't fold. (and depending on turn it's hard to make them fold even with two barrels) 4x and 8x will not fold. worse hands will most likely fold so you give you opponents the chance to play perfectly.
