FYI those new to poker..."playing out of the rack" falls along the lines of "scared money" or "not counting you're chips til the dealing is done", more along the lines of that, than it being a superstition.
@ShaggyRogers12 жыл бұрын
Eh, playing out of the rack implies that you are in the process of doing the last hand at the table and already in the process of putting your chips in the rack to leave said table. There is a tad bit of superstition in that you always get a hand you can't just fold when you are racking up, but on the flip side most people are going to be super nitty if they are playing a hand while racking up. Marginal hands will always just fold so they can finish racking up to leave.

Brad - I truly enjoy your blog and commentary. your humor and turn of phrase is always spot on. For your background - you need to choose between the homey good feeling of your prior background. Seeing a Leafs cap or your vlog awards (and all of the other tchotchke) are nice and makes one feel like we are "invited" to your house. Everything wrong with open folding, you should always check, you can always fold when the action comes back to you.
@The_Marko22 жыл бұрын
@@JivanPal I think most pros will agree that it's very important to have an open-folding range. It removes the bottom portion of your checking range making the remainder of your checks much stronger allowing you to continue more often against opponent cbets.
@JivanPal2 жыл бұрын
@@The_Marko2 You lose 100% of the hands you don't partake in. If you don't partake in a hand, your expectation is zero. If you partake and open check, then you have a decision to make when the action comes back to you based on what the expectation is, based on Villain's action: (a) fold if it's negative, which turns negative expectation into zero expectation; or (b) continue appropriately if it's positive. The aggregate of these two cases is positive expectation. Thus, open folding is always worse, unless you don't know how to correctly assess whether you're in case (a) or (b), or how to act when you're in case (b). If you have an open folding range, then any good Villain will adjust their c-bet range and sizing accordingly, nullifying your claimed benefit; there is a stable Nash equilibrium when all players have no open folding range.
