Hey Lex, i have recently moved up stakes in some pretty wild games and after trying to push the action, ive had tremedous success just playing snug and in position. I feel like when theres a lot of action players and calling stations my best bet seems to just let the action come to me and strike when the timing is correct. Ive basically taken all my double barrell bluffs out of play. Its pretty unbalanced play however ive had winning sessions 75% of the time....idk...just a thought

I saw most of this on the livestream. Makes me appreciate how much he has to go through to create a video. He folded lots and lots during the stream so capturing enough for a video was hours on end. Thank you for always being transparent and bringing us great content.

Thanks Lex for keeping it real. Most of us are rec players and seeing that sometimes the struggle happens to us all is refreshing. I live and Dallas and know the games here are much tougher than most who don’t play here regularly understand. Hope you’ll come back and stay a bit longer with us. Things will turn around and you will be crushing it before long.

Love that you share how the variance gets to you. As it gets to everyone that’s honest with themselves. It’s like the only game that your told Not to be Results oriented. The hardest thing for me to learn about poker

I appreciate ur candid unveiled videos. Poker is a great metaphor for life off the table. Nothing is given. Everything is earned. Time and chance happen to us all (good fortune and terrible disasters). Just keep in mind those other great things in life: good friends, a beautiful day on the golf course, watching the sun set on the beach, taking long naps on Sunday afternoon, and of course family and our God’s love for us!

Forget about the downswing. Every hand you play is a new start. All you can do is play optimally and sooner or later you'll be back on track! Playing scared is the best way to keep the downswing alive! You rock and you'll keep on rocking!

Hey Lex, don’t let the haters ever influence your game. They usually don’t have a life themselves. Whether a livestream or just a regular game, the cards always dictate the action. Don’t ever force the action for the vlog, of course you know that but just a reminder. Your there to entertain, but most importantly to make money. Keep your chin up.

For some extra insight, I play live-mid stakes for a living as well. I've had 600 hours of breaking even before and I beat the game at 12bb/h @ 2400 hours sample and 15/bb hour for the last 1200 hours. This isn't to humble brag but to offer insight to how mind-numbing poker variance can be. Poker really is a mental game. Best of luck to you. I understand how you're feeling. Just make sure you're playing well. Take care.

Good job recognizing the things that are affecting you negatively and taking a break from those things. Maybe in the future you will make $$$,$$$ on the live streams but at this moment in time they aren't working out. Maybe an extra round or 2 on the links a week will help. I'm sure it couldn't hurt LOL

I have watched your channel and respect your honest commentary when you lose. While I have played as an amateur for years and am not in your league, I do wonder sometimes on your betting strategy. The best advice I've ever received after I lose a hand is to determine if that was the right hand to play. If so, keep doing it. If not, learn from it and avoid that type of situation in the future. You learn more from the hands you lose than the hands you win.

Poker is a game of skill AND luck. You need both. Run bad happens and there really isn't anything you can do about it. No one likes to talk about it but bad luck can run that way for a LONG TIME and it doesn't matter how skilled you are. It happens to everyone at some point. Forget the haters. Hope it turns around for you Lex and the run good starts going your way again!

It’s too bad you decided to not play anymore live streams, but understand why...not many can be as transparent as you are about your game and where it’s at. When this downswing ends (and it will), I would love for you to do a recap of the whole downswing. Would love to hear how you were feeling and how to right the ship. Also a lessons learned, of what to do (and not do) on your next downswing. Best of luck in Vegas…i guess no live streams in SoCal?

Ya gotta figure out how to swing with power, with correct snapping release at the ball and through, around your head that you set up for impact at address. Without moving your head ONE PIXEL and have perfect balance after follow through…..putting that together is what putting together the shot is…short game has many kinds of swings but on the downswing once your club is parallel w the ground your in the slot , that means you could put as much as you want to into it from there bc everything is committed and the shot you put together is complete as far as your control of it

I’m surprised and annoyed that people would say anything bad about you or your play as you’re a good dude putting out good vibes AND you’re a good player!! When you win within you first orbit, weather it is doubling your stack or just winning a big pot, you tend to play more hands after than than you would. As those winning dwindle, it becomes a mindfuck that you are burning away your winnings, and then you start picking bad spots to bluff just trying to win a pot, and if they are against players who are calling stations who are shorter stacked, it will be hard to bluff them out. I know you mentioned you couldn’t make hands, but I think you probably also overplayed alot of bluffs. Good luck on the next one

“300 hours” downswing break even stretches are normal. During this period, play tighter, keep sessions short and most importantly book a win, no matter how small Also work on your “Winning discipline” you had a win instantly but you played it back, that’s bad professional discipline and losing poker players do that. Not winners In order to beat poker you have to have discipline, 1. starting a session discipline, you had a win but played it back 2. Ending a session discipline 3. Folding discipline 4. Patience During this downswing make sure you get up and exercise everyday and keep a positive mental attitude and work on your disciplines You was steaming which is why the A7 hand called you also The downswing is affecting your patience discipline, It happens to all of us, work thru it and just count down the 300 hours After 300 hours it usually passes. I have well over 10k hours live My win percentage is 80% lifetime Good luck Book a win next session and then go to sleep
