I use a handheld GPS because I felt like it would be easier to to see detail on the maps. I sail offshore in the Gulf a lot and I found that I get seasick if I look down at things in my boat very long. The handheld was probably a good choice and this is one of the reasons I avoided a FF. The other is that a FF gives you a delayed report of the depth a while back (I believe around 10 sec delay). By then I may be aground. The GPS comes with maps showing the water depths to keep me at safe.

Thanks Jon. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Yes, I will be happy to take a picture tomorrow. Not sure how or where to post the picture. It looks like there may be a way to create a video response. Either way I'll take a shot at posting something up tomorrow.

Fun to watch a master at work. I like the numbering system. I noticed that you don't have FF/GPS on your boat. This is something I am very interested in, but can't decide which one to get or what type of transducer? Wet or dry installation ? The FF could warn me, because, I have already scratched up my AI some. It is hard to see the bottom of the brackish water her in Florida. It hurts seeing those nasty scratches on our beautiful papayas. Looking forward to see your FF/GPS project...lol

Someday I hope you will make a video about how to replace the tiller-steering cords, including what kind of cord to use. While I have a home-made gadget that lets me steer with a paddle, I'd like to be ale to repair the system on a faraway beach. Thanks, your videos are educational & encouraging. Everything I do in my TI is conditioned by me being elderly and not very strong or flexible.

Any chance you could put it together and I could buy it from you? I am all thumbs when trying to do things like this?
