Marina, thank you for bringing the Bunker home back to life! I was born in 1965, and so I grew up watching “All In The Family” as a kid in the 70’s. So many fond memories. You are such an excellent host. Your attention to detail is unsurpassed! Thank you for everything you do, and for sharing it with the general public on KZbin. Much appreciated! ❤

I just want to say that all the people that aren't subscribed and not watching are really missing out. I am blown away by not only the time you take and the detail you put into the 3D models, but the research you do on the shows is unbelievable. Absolutely a favorite! I don't know what it was about this house that made me want to live there. As a little girl, into my teens, I drew house interiors. I can't believe you actually got this home in detail. I lived in a very similar house back in the 70's, with one exception our house had three bedrooms, and you were correct assuming there was a matching bookcase on the other side because we had it just like that. And you got the downstairs to perfection. Congratulations, this brought fond memories of a bygone era. I did have a few tears when you described, Archie's and Mike's bonne voyage on the porch. I'm very old and more sentimental these days.

Watching this video, and equating classic lines to certain scenes is great. Also, for the upstairs--In the episode "The battle of the month" which I think was the last episode in season 3, the two bedrooms upstairs backed up to each other. There was also a makeshift bedroom in the attic that was mentioned. The episode where Archie’s freeloading cousin Oscar was visiting and died. Naturally, Archie hated him because Oscar picked on him as a kid. He said. Relatives all up and down the eastern seaboard and he picks my attic to die in.

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane The only thing is that Oscar and the attic were never seen. So you just have to use your imagination about the attic. A later episode after they adopted Stephanie and she didn’t want to go with them to California to visit Mike and Gloria. Archie scared her in that the attic door must stay locked at all times. The he said he had a cousin who died up there. But told her well goodbye and don’t be scared. She of course ran after them. Funny stuff.

When I was eight years old my mom lived in a place that was pretty similar to the Bunkers. There are a lot of homes in that part of RI that date back to the era their home most likely dated back to (20's/30's to mid to late 40s). I was born in '74 and watched a ton of this show growing up. In this episode, I love how you framed out the dining room with the additional built-in. That single built-in at the foot of the stairs always bugged me, and I never knew why--until I saw your set with its companion! As for future projects--I'll keep plugging for my request: I'd love to see Jessica's house from Murder, She Wrote. Finally, I can sleep at night knowing what was in that odd little room off the dining room / near the basement door! I'm also surprised to see just how real-world the Bunker house is; eg, it doesn't have a diagonal wall for the front door, as do so many shows of the period -- something I never consciously picked up on until you pointed it out, Marina. Being a child in the 70’s I remember fondly my grandparents and my folks watching this show. I too would watch and enjoy. Often a lot of the humor went way over my head. Archie reminds me, a lot like my own grandfather. I often could relate to the episode. Watching your recreation is almost like having a recreation of my own grandparent’s house 40 plus years later. Hi Marina! Scott here. First off, every aspect of this tour blew me away. Secondly, I think the aspect that really blew me over was the “nostalgic sepia” look the set designer was going for - to create an aesthetic that was like going through an old family photo album. In the 1970’s, this would have *resonated* with viewers, as the generation of sepia photos were still alive at that time. I’m also very drawn to the built-in room dividers which, in concert with the kitchen pass through, beautifully created flow from one room to the next while still separating each space. I love that kind of visual. *I was waiting with baited breath for that toilet flush!!!* I also love how you incorporated the personalities of the characters, as well as the vision for this show. All of that information and commentary is so necessary in order to understand the space we’re exploring. The family who interacted with that space was no more one-dimensional than the home itself. BOTH were multi-dimensional, which is what I think made this show so compelling. Lastly, here is my vote for the next space I would love to explore: *Three’s Company.* Have a great weekend, Marina!

Marina, THANKS! so much for the tour. I was a wee lad when the show aired. Emotionally it meant/STILL means a lot to me. The Kiss, the CHAIR, the move to California. Edith's/Archie's tender + funny moments. Few ppl in the world I've ever wanted to meet, but the entire cast of All in the Family + the Jefferson's would be it. I even imitated both George (walk) Archie's pronunciation of turlet. Mike breaking Archie's chair is priceless!

Also - I noticed Edith would often copy the way Archie said turlet, when she'd retell something he had said- almost like she was making fun of him. But she kept a serious face. And yet her character would never make fun of him. So I'm curious the motivation behind her character doing that.

Wow, brings back great memories of watching “All In The Family” as a kid. My mother did not like the show, so we could only watch it when my Dad had it on. The house reminds me of my Grandparents brownstone home on Utopia Pkwy in Queens NY, but they had the left side. The difference was there was a step up from the living room to the dining room and there was a large fireplace in the living room corner, which matched the fireplace in the basement. The stairs had two landings. There was only one bathroom at the end of the upstairs hallway. I was only 6 years old when they moved in 1964 but I still remember the house and the big Christmas tree they would have each year. I remember my Grandmother would say the she had a fast or slow oven, that was fueled by coal. It was my job to go downstairs and fill the coal bucket with coal from the bunker. Thanks for the memories.

You're back! And with one of my favorite homes and series. I agree 100 % with your matching cabinet on the other side of the living room to delineate the the spaces. Very typical in Craftsman /Arts and Crafts homes of the time. That nook always seemed like wasted space ... One Day at a Time did this as well with the back room that could have been used for so many things but always sat empty and rarely did we see characters in in. Such a great trip down memory lane. As a soon-to-be 37 year old who neither considers myself fully on one side or the other, it's how I feel towards my extended family too. WOW. Amazing, meticulous attention to detail. What I love about this is we see what the Bunkers’ house would look like in the real world - with natural light coming through the windows, how the flow of the house worked, etc. I loved AITF because y grandparents lived in the same section of Queens as the Bunkers. Their house was VERY similar to 704 Hauser. I loved the show because I KNEW these people and their world. Marina, excellent job as always! "All in the Family" is one of my favorite shows of all time. I think it has some of the best writing and acting ever on network television and it was certainly groundbreaking. It got away with pressing boundaries because you cared about the characters and it was genuinely funny. A quick note -- there were two other pilots for the show before the third one that actually got approved by CBS. In the first pilot for ABC in 1968, the set is noticeably different and seems to match the exterior more. There is an enclosed porch and a small foyer area, and the kitchen is completely different and much smaller. Also, Norman Lear originally contemplated filming the series in black and white to give it an "old-timey" feel, but the networks balked. Instead, he went for the sepia-toned set and wouldn't allow any bright colors in the interior decoration.

I STILL really love the Bunkers and the Stivics, including little baby Joey and Teresa, plus Maude and the Jeffersons who stopped by frequently. I love how the Bunker house(aka 704 Houser St.) was well put together. I can only imagine another tv sitcom where a couple of characters are watching a real estate showcase of homes together, and this house of the late Archie and Edith Bunker up for sale is shown in it. I can imagine me buying that house if it were a real residence. On a turn-of-the-century note, you did the Walton house tour, and hopefully, you do a series of The Little House on the Prairie tours of the Ingalls cute little cabin, the Olson's Merchantile, the school, the church, the blind home/school and even Laura and Almanzo's home as well.

This truly was a brilliant video. This video experience was amazing to watch and listen to. Your description of the set was again spot on perfect. You explained things that I wasn't aware of. It really was a cool idea and you executed it perfectly. These shows bring back so many wonderful childhood memories. I was born in 1967, and the shows produced back then were incredible. M*A*S*H was my all-time favorite, the Odd Couple was second, All in the Family was in my top ten as well. Soap was another hilarious show. Oh and I had forgotten that Maude was related to Edith. All in the Family had opened the doors for the Jeffersons and Maude. It showed just how iconic All in the Family was for television. I can't wait to see ANY other virtual walk throughs you have made. I'd love to see the Odd Couple, Soap, and again M*A*S*H plus any others you made. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us. You really did a phenomenal job with this creation. Well done ma'am, 10 out of 10! Plus you brought back a lot of beautiful memories, which truly helps me more than I can say. My health has slowly declined. I was recently diagnosed with emphysema, COPD, and heart disease. So these bits of happiness, reminders of my childhood growing up are so important to me. They help my morale and they keep me smiling. So again I want to Thank You very much for your efforts. I am looking forward to seeing more of your work. Take care, be safe, and God Bless you and your family. 🙏

My mom and her friend liked watching M*A*S*H. There was another show they liked watching... Dynasty.

I believe this was the first set design that became the blueprint for so many future series' set designs - All in the Family, Family Matters, Mama's Family, Everybody Loves Raymond, What's Happening, Mike and Molly, King of Queens, Still Standing, Alf, ...... They all had the same layout, just dressed up different. Front door opening onto the living room, stairs in the background, living room flows into a dining area, and then a door opening into the kitchen. Usually there is a toilet room under the stairs.

Yes. Very common layout. You thought of a lot of the shows that used it.

Wow!!!! Absolute amazing.. as a kid I live in row houses similar to the bunkers house , not the same but I thought I lived in the same house. I loved all in the family and Archie Bunkers place. Such a iconic television show
