I've seen this may times & always cry at the end LoL I will always remember the first time I saw WPT on tv, as well as the day I logged into Full Tilt & saw the notice from the FBI. It was a good run while it lasted.

Cheating at poker? You bet it is out there. I used to play at bars in Louisiana. It was legal as long as the house did not have a rake. (Basically, if you won a hand, you were expected to tip the dealer $1-$5 depending on the pot size. If you did not, when you came back to play the next time, the empty seats would always be "reserved" for another player, and you could not sit in anymore) I was stuck one night for about $800, and I caught a player with a couple of cards up his sleeve. He was good, but I felt something was not right and finally caught a glimpse. I grabbed his arm and let everyone see it. The bar owner refunded all my losses for the night, and I never played there again. I saw him in another bar that I went to play at about a week later, and announced to everyone he was caught cheating a few days ago. No one got up, and one woman proclaimed they knew he was a card sharp, but let him play anyway....That made me think they were all likely cheats as well (or just real degenerates?)

Why are they blaming the government and not Howard lederer, Ferguson and Duke?
@harold77922 ай бұрын
Just one modification there: I don't believe Annie Duke was part of the Ponzi scheme that Lederer and Ferguson committed. Annie Duke was never mentioned in the lawsuit. Her brother basically hurt the family legacy.

Rounders should have been made for $2 million (23 million would sound pretty good on that) and Matt Damon should have done it for 40% of profits after double break even. Instead, he got paid $600k and the movie was made for $12m (expected loss would be $500k, probably made that up by now.)

Moneymaker ruined his life when he won the WSOP. His gambling addiction made him lose all his cash and family.
@harold77922 ай бұрын
Very harsh to say about all his cash and family, it's a deceptive comment, and technically not 100% true. More on that below. But first, I offer one sort of clarification to your statement: In this documentary, Moneymaker admitted he was a drunk and a degen before he won the 2003 WSOP. There's a 2018 article in ESPN. com about him, and a 2013 article about him in the Las Vegas Review Journal. I encourage you to read these articles to learn more about all his life, not just for the couple years after he won the WSOP. about him. Also, some necessary additions to your comment: Your comment only applies from after the won the WSOP in 2003 until 2005. Yes, it's sad that, in 2004, he and his then-wife divorced, having one child. His ex-wife didn't like that Moneymaker was traveling a ton as part of his sponsorship with PokerStars. However, in 2005, his life changed for the better. Chris remarried during that year, and currently has 3 children with his current wife. And he does just fine with money. He is sponsored by America's Cardroom, and he runs the MoneyMaker Tour. And the LV Review Journal states: "Moneymaker also works to support efforts to increase female participation in poker, along with regulated online poker in the U.S. Nevada is one of six states, along with Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, to have legalized online poker." Per the ESPN article, regarding his traveling for poker: "But for the last decade or so [going back to 2008], I just go back to my hotel room. I quit smoking and now rarely drink, maybe a little sometimes socially. I basically go back to my hotel room to either watch Netflix, watch a poker video or play Fortnite with my son and then go to bed." Unfortunately, some marriages, even when having children, don't work out. But it sounds like Chris has a pretty good life now. It's not really cool to disparage the guy and only talk about his life pre-2005. Why not mention stuff about his life after 2005?
@playinragz81832 ай бұрын
@@harold7792 he’s a public figure so I can judge how I wish. Along with its a fact before the WSOP he had a family and a life now he’s a bum. So yes the WSOP ruined his life. What’s $2.5 million when you’re a degenerate!
