I'm retired from the field now. I came across this site and was consumed, it's hard to walk away from HVAC SERVICE after 44 years. I follow along and try to get to the solution as quickly as possible. Thanks Brother, keep up the good work!!!

Man I jumped a little from couch when the T-stat wire went under your fingernail. Thought you found line voltage on low voltage wire again.

I enjoy all of your videos. Not sure why. Maybe it's just the satisfaction of watching a talented and honest craftsman! What;s funny is I don't know compactor from a doorknob! LOL....

Nice work! Always love trying to find a short, especially at the end of a changeout on Friday at four o'clock. I need to get one of those resettable fuses! That thing would come in handy quite a bit.

Found a low voltage short to ground on an outdoor lighting system just by watching were I was walking between house and the truck to get the sensor. Saw some 🪱 popping up from the ground in one spot. It had been raining the night before the call. There lights kept dimming every once in a while when they were on their back porch.

Nice job! Get frustrating at some points but patience & persistence pays off. I gotta learn how to use that jumper fuse button thing.
@kylegreene15832 жыл бұрын
And to think, if you started with the new outside wire(low probability), instead of the jumbled inside mess(high probability), we wouldn't have seen a master craftsman doing his due diligence.

I've found about twelve low voltage wiring shorts near the outdoor unit. Normally they took place due to dogs biting on the wires and getting mad at the jolt and won't stop ever. Best thing to do is put some fence or bricks around. Estimate is per year on average.

I hate em too! Got one on my Jeep I’m chasing it just pops up with an etc error but I can clear it and go on. It did it to on the way to the pharmacy earlier. Useless trio anyway dang place was closed this afternoon for some reason😅. Maybe I’ll give it another shot at me tomorrow. At least most hvac shorts I ca get to without disassembling the whole unit lol
@basshunter41442 жыл бұрын
If the unit was approx 2 months old why wasn't the installer out there fix his problem.

Installers don’t troubleshoot.

U R a Ace wiring detective. I been retired from trade for 9 years you have thermostats now that you have to a screw the wire to terminals anymore?

What adjustable torque wrench do you use and why
@HVACGUY2 жыл бұрын
I use the yellow jacket adjustable torque wrench. It’s perfect . Has a notch on one side for flare nuts. I was able to use one before buying, so I saw just how useful it is.

@@HVACGUY what model do you use
@TPINSC2 жыл бұрын
You did a Great job. I have seen You use those pliers so often I'm tempted to try a pair. I looked them up and they say the crimper is for non insulated connectors. Have You had a problem with them? They are pretty pricey too compared to the other style.
@HVACGUY2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are more expensive. But, they’re needle nose, wire strippers, crimpers, plus you can turn your #10 around lugs with them. And those crimpers are the same as the good ones on the heavy Klein Pliers.

Shouldn't you cut off the shorted white wire on both ends? Or mark it as shorted. Might save some time in the future.

Sometimes that one stubborn screw. Curtis are fresh air intake systems incorporated in your new installs?
@HVACGUY2 жыл бұрын
Only in new construction. And I’m not taking those jobs.

@@HVACGUY thanks for the response Curtis. It just came across my mind when I saw what looks like a return duct next to the air handler.
@HVACGUY2 жыл бұрын
@@Thermodynamics6543 that is a return, with another opening through the wall behind it. There’s a 4 inch Honeywell filter underneath the air handler.

@@HVACGUY nice design. Oh how I wish homes in Tobago 🇹🇹 were ducted to get the practice on those systems. Nevertheless I look forward to your videos daily because I learn a lot from them. Thanks Professor.
