He did become primarily an Aquaman villain instead, though, over time. It's just one of those weird little bits of comic history, like Kingpin originally being a Spider-Man before he became the nemesis of Daredevil.

White Shark eyes aren’t actually completely black. They’re just really dark for maximum light absorption. They don’t have eyelids but they can roll them back into their head for protection when feeding. White sharks also have a coating on them that allows them to see objects out of the water, as well as a tapetum lucidum, a layer of guanine crystals behind the retina designed to reflect absorbed light back. This is the same night vision eye shine you see in most predatory or nocturnal creatures. Basically this means in most situations shark eyes are dark brown or gray sometimes with a blue ring around the pupil, but if you shined a flashlight in their eyes at night the eye would actually appear green

King Shark is one of those characters who doesn't really have a definitive characterization, since he's such a D-list villain his personality and origin changes pretty much every time he shows up, kinda like Giganta but even more inconsistent. He's probably accurate to at least one version of King Shark.

In the comics he was given a belt that was supposed to atomize him (and everything around him) because the bomb given to the others was not strong enough to damage King Shark. At some point the belt went off, killed everything... EXCEPT King Shark. Even Superboy has admitted that he does not know if he can stop King Shark if he goes on a frenzy.
