The pschologist Lynne Carson played by Donna Pescow, was the first openly gay character on daytime soaps (Dynasty was in 1981). She turns out to be a lesbian and their friendship ends up confusing Devan. It was clearly too early and Agnes wrote her out pretty quickly. Instead, Agnes waited until 2000 and piggy backed the subject off on the single most popular character in the soap's history, Erica was going to deal with it head on in her daughter, and nobody was going to 'write it out'
