Dimitri should have stayed dead as the Dimitri recast was terrible...... Dimitri never would have been written off had Michael Nader not gotten caught selling drugs by undercover police.......

Dimitri had been feeling unwell, so he flew to the UK to see Dr. Alex Devane (twin sister of Anna Devane from GH) and she began treating him. They fell in love, got married, and were going to come back to Pine Valley to surprise everyone. Then Dimitri suffered a brain aneurysm on the plane, was rushed to the hospital, and pronounced dead. Then a few months later it was revealed that Alex had faked Dimitri's death at his request because he didn't want Edmund and everyone to see him so ill. Alex found an experimental treatment and began administering it to Dimitri. He started to recover but one day disappeared from the hospital, and everyone thought he had committed suicide. Then several months later it was revealed that Dimitri was alive (again) and was being held captive in Wales, and that he had recovered from his illness but faked being in a catatonic state in order to spy on his captors. Long story short, he escaped, made it back to Pine Valley, and was reunited with everyone. Ultimately the brain behind the operation was a woman claiming to be Alex's mother, and it also was revealed that Anna was alive after several years of being presumed dead on GH. And that's the storyline in a nutshell.

And then 20 years later on GH, it was revealed that Alex Devane was the mother of the notorious Peter August aka Henrik Faison. Some fans were hoping that Dimitri would make an appearance on GH, but Michael Nader sadly passed away before it could happen.
