I am a doctor, and heel rotation is absolutely recommended to reduce strain and stress to the patellar tendon and ACL in the anterior aspect of the knee. Great advice and video!

I'm a beginner and just a month ago I joined a local disc golf club. Tonight while playing I did a rather short upshot and overshot the pin a bit and said, "I'm amazed how far the disc goes when I'm actually throwing slow. To which both myself and the guy who is the best player in the club said, slow is smooth and smooth is far! lol He then told me to be sure to check out your videos they are the best. I told him I already am aware. Seems your fame is spreading. ;-)

Very well done Danny. I just viewed a bunch of your videos. I like your teaching style; you obviously have a gift for teaching. Not everyone can do it no matter how much they practice. Your editing of your videos is to be commended. No wasted time or meaningless banter. Keep up the great work. I'm 53 years old and I can always learn new things from young people. You have a very friendly personality. Nice Job.

Hey a good trick for marking a line on grass is using a spray foot powder. It goes on white and you can just dust it off the grass with your feet. I used it a lot for the other golf. Cheers

Thank you Danny. The drills concerning rounding, especially the reach back, are especially important to me. I've managed to get most everything else down *kind of* to where I feel confident but I'm reaching across my body and it's driving me mad, mad I tell you!!! Anyway, thanks, I'm going to start using the wall drills and the water bottle drills. Love the rest of your videos, please, don't stop them.

I've seen articles on heel vs toe spinning and it seems that many feel heel spinning adds distance and toe spinning adds accuracy. I agree. Personally I prefer toe spinning, but I know this is not the general consensus. In this video you discuss the health disadvantages of toe spinning, but after years of doing so I feel the only real disadvantage is distance. I comfortably throw 350'+ from the toe which usually gets me by, especially in wooded courses where accuracy typically trumps distance. Do you know of any professionals that prefer toe spinning also? Would you consider doing a video of the pros and cons of both types? Thanks as always for the great videos and info. I recommend your videos all the time.

Very useful drills, as I am trying to correct the problem of running over my front foot due to not planting it firmly enough, thereby preventing the transfer of power from my lower body to the disc. I figure there must be an extra 30-60 feet to be gained from properly planting the front foot and using it as the axis around which your body rotates, ensuring that the power is properly transmitted to the disc.

hey man. i love your videos. i have improved my game with them so thanks for the hard work. on topic, here is another solid drill for working on your walkup. this drill is going to differ slightly for each player but results will be the same. you will need some masking tape and can do it inside or out. 1. begin by standing as you would at the start. 2. place tape on ground beneath each foot. 3. do each step of your walkthrough slowly and as you do them, put tape on ground below your foot. Now you should have a piece of tape marking each step and looking similar to how you learn dance moves. practice on this tape and within a week you will show much more form consistency. then add in other aspects such as body angle to shot etc... try it and I hope it works for someone like it did me.

Yes. Too much pressure through toes puts stress on knees. Placing weight into heel transfer stress into the lower quads versus knee capsule. This is also used in leg press and various squats. I think you reasoning does save your knees though not sure if this changes control or distance of shot. Thoughts?

The hardest thing for me is rotating on the heel when stepping forward. And i think its cause I'm used to playing golf where when you swing your club and follow thru you rotate your foot on your toe not your heel. Hard thing to unlearn.

Quick question about the bottle drill. What does "pointing the bottle straight back" represent in the throw? For some reason it's stuck out to me as something I'm not doing currently in my reach back (if it does indeed represent some movement). The only thing I could think of is some sort of wrist motion like "neutral -> open -> neutral -> open", where the first "open" represents that moment. I think I tend to keep my wrist neutral through most of the throw (neutral -> neutral -> neutral -> open), which may be robbing me of some extra snap / smoothness. Any insight?

One step has been talked about for a long time, definitely mentioned a lot during DGR days. Part of the working from the hit back idea (the second drill in the "Beto" drill which is actually two drills) was to go standstill/one step/ xstep/run up. Beto glosses over this part in the video (and gets some bits wrong) but it was part of Blake's format for it and I think he borrowed it from someone even further back (I know I've seen a hit back video from the early 2000's but can never find it again) Not sure when the first video was done but Seabas22 was using it as a form correcter for himself back in 2010/11 along with the one leg drill. I'd love to put together a history of everything at some point. I think the wall drill was a Blake T idea but i maybe misremembering, it could have been JHERN or possibly someone else(think it was someone else now and I can't remember the username annoyingly) , think it was first mentioned in the breaking 300' thread on DGR which is where I got the idea and put it into video for friends who were too lazy to read!
