i read this play for my english course recently, and all i can say is OHHH MMYY GODDD man. probably one of the best things i’ve ever read. we’re watching this movie before taking our test like, next week but i want to watch it all the way through right now because i love it so much. i cant tell if it’s because im able to link issues that i have with myself as well as my family to this story but it’s genuinely insane. the end of the play just.. explodes and then ends so abruptly as well after all of the tension builds up throughout the play, i nearly cried just reading it. my feelings about each of the characters were changing all throughout reading this play as well which is something i haven’t experienced with any other thing i’ve watched or read before. and upon learning that this play inspired the name of one of my favorite bands from when i was younger (which i am now getting back into once again because of this LOL) i really locked into this play. it’s so beautiful dude jesus christ. if i dont ace this test im gonna cry all i am is a sophomore in high school but i am going to remember this play for the rest of my life.

Glad you enjoyed the picture -- and I DEFINITELY hope you do well with the play and your schoolwork!! And yes, this picture really is where the band "21 Pilots" gets it's name. Now I'm gonna make you REALLY jealous: I didn't mention it during the presentation, but 21 Pilots is from Columbus, Ohio!! But when I say "Columbus," one or two of its members were really from here in Dublin (a suburb). My daughter knew one of the members (or maybe his brother?) because they went to the same high school here in Dublin. How d'ya like THAT?!! Good luck in all, and I hope you visit the channel again! Next year you will read another play by Arthur Miller. Most likely the Crucible, his play about the Salem witch trials.
@garyabbott38615 ай бұрын
Reading plays is a talent. If you can read a play and have it give you the same emotional impact a production might have means you have something of the theater in you. Since you are still in high school, it's a good time to think about that. You don't have to be an actor (God, I wouldn't wish that on an enemy!). You could direct! You could design. You could be one of those people who push the sets around and tell the actors to get the *** out of the way! Read lots of plays. Arthur Miller is considered one of the greatest of American playwrights and you couldn't start anywhere better. Oh, I envy you!

I've recently gotten into watching 50s and 60s panel shows, and boy, was it a pleasant surprise to see Arlene Francis (from "What's My Line") among the cast! And of course Edward G. Robinson plays the role of conflicted, morally-questionable leading man as well as ever... him, Peter Lorre, and Dan Duryea are *the* staples of film noir!
@fullmoonmatinee Жыл бұрын
I have to agree! EGR, Dan Duryea, and Peter Lorre absolutely scream “noir.” And I would add Richard Conte to your list. Speaking of…..as femmes go, I would say Veronica Lake - and I need to bring one of her films to FMM!
@moonlightray8493 Жыл бұрын
@@fullmoonmatinee I haven't gotten around to much of Richard Conte or Veronica Lake's filmography yet (only 2 and 1, respectively). However, if we're listing iconic femme fetales, one simply must include Joan Bennett (who co-starred with Robinson & Duryea in "Scarlet Street" *and* "The Woman in the Window"), as well as Lizabeth Scott!
@fullmoonmatinee Жыл бұрын
@@moonlightray8493 I certainly agree with Joan Bennett. And I did bring “Scarlet Street” to the channel a few months back. Same with Lizabeth Scott in “Too Late For Tears”.

Subscribed! Came to see this movie as I learned prior about Twenty-One Pilots named after this film. The premise of the movie was quite intriguing and didn’t disappoint! Fell in love with your channel, and your great taste in film and wonderful narration. Incidentally, Twenty-One Pilots are also from Ohio! Keep them coming…
@fullmoonmatinee Жыл бұрын
Funny you should say that: I meant to mention that Twenty One Pilots was from Ohio during the show...BUT I FORGOT TO! And it wasn't worth re-shooting the segment for something so small, so I just bit my lip and went with it. Specifically, they're from Columbus. Dublin (home of Full Moon Matinee) is a suburb of Columbus, so I still consider them to be a local band. (still furious at myself for forgetting to mention that in the show!). And I thank you for subscribing! Glad you like the channel!!

Fantastic film! I wish I could type instead of using the remote. Fabulous script, cast, direction, you name it. Wonderful commentary! This reminded me of the story from the Scottish side of the family, of one of the guys who went to Canada to sign up to fly before the US was in the war. He said he was making a strafing run over Dunkirk, near the end, when he saw a member of the Black Watch running with a machine gun to set it up in a new position, even though the situation was obviously hopeless. He said he almost didn't pull up.
@fullmoonmatinee8 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, Dunkirk was definitely a nasty mess. The BEF was very lucky that they largely escaped intact (minus their heavy equipment). And yes, I'm familiar with the Black Watch -- helluva unit! Glad you enjoyed the picture!!

Great film, thanks for sharing. The acting was great by all the players & the story very thought provoking, goes to show that your past always catches up with you. 😯 Special shout out to 'The Detective' for providing all those tid bits of background information, very informative. I can relate to keeping the hope going for military personnel who are MIA & not getting closure, this is all part of human nature. Lastly, just a thought, how many cigarettes & whisky shots does 'The Detective ' get through for each film? Want you to stay healthy so you can keep presenting these classic films. 😉

Great casting except for Mady Christians. They could have found an American actress. I think this was the last movie she made before she was Blacklisted for being a communist sympathizer in 1948-49 ending her short film career. In 1951 at 59 she died of a brain aneurism.
