Sterling Marlin basically violated 3 NASCAR rules in less than 2 laps. Advancing his position below the yellow line, repairing the car under the red flag, and to top it all off, jumping out of his car while on the track to make the repairs himself. I can just imagine how much money he was fined after this race.

He never passed Gordon below the line, you can see he turns back up onto the track as he's correcting his car during the spin

@@Festivus_Miracle NASCAR never did penalize Sterling Marlin for going below the yellow line , but he was penalized for working on his Dodge Intrepid RT unde the red flag.

Just imagine if Sterling Marlin never jumped out of his car and just stayed inside until the caution came back out. He would have circled back to pit road, make the repairs, and still would've had a shot at the victory

One of the most underrated final 50 laps of a Daytona 500 although it was kind of a wreckfest

You can't work on your car under the red flag , that's the NASCAR rule. You're not allowed to work on your car under the red flag.

Ward Burton's upset victory after a boneheaded Sterling Marlin tried to fix his car himself under the red flag.
