Wild that Minneapolis had a legit NBA dynasty on its hands completely with the most iconic player of that era (George Mikan) and couldn't hold on to their team. At least when Phily lost the Warriors they got the Sixers right away. Meanwhile, Milwaukee, which is on a big frozen Great Lake never got a NHL or even a WHA team, and it's colleges have only ever played at the club level. Yet you can't imagine that city without the Bucks and Marquette. Hell, the Milwaukee Does hosted the first women's game there. Even the UWM Panthers had their time in the national spotlight in the 2000s. I guess the hoops-hockey rivalry is real. At least in the Upper Midwest it is. Sure, Minneapolis eventually got the T-Wolves. But they're clearly the least popular of the four pro teams in that area. Despite being In the same part of the country, Milwaukee is a basketball town and Minneapolis is a hockey town.
