Brent Mustburger on audio was stating in 2000 that the Lakers were going for their 7th title(Shaq & Kobe's 1st) Before then, it never happened. Also, on NBA Films for the '87 championship season, it was titled for the Lakers as "Drive For Five". Lastly, if the history of them was completely accurate, then it would WRONGLY state that the Lakers having 18 titles because Mikan also won a BAA championship. It's still 6 in Inglewood, and 6 in DTLA for the books. They just wanna keep up with that Celtics rivalry nonsense.

What's a crime was that the Lakers NBL title in 1948, before they joined the BAA, was not recognized. The NBL was a stronger league than the BAA at that time. 1948 NBL title 1949 BAA title 1950 NBA title And what's wrong with counting the Minni titles? The Dodgers, the baseball Giants, the Oakland As, all count their titles in Brooklyn, New York and Philadelphia, respectively. No one ever objected that. Only Celtics fans are smarting that the Lakers counting the Minni titles...

Not a single soul or fan of the Lakers, nor the organization itself claimed those titles before 2002 because they never truly counted for them. It's all biased media hype. Oh but wait, when Jerry West's Lakers kept losing to Boston, and the Knicks in '70, I guess West, Chamberlain, Goodrich, Riley, Hearn, Cooke, or the LA Lakers fan base were like, "Well we still got 5 NBA World titles under our belt with 5 trophies and rings". NO, they were not. Neither was the NBA either. ALL of these franchises claiming other cities titles are a joke.
