It's another example of all-in-one package (sporty, comfy, practical, all season) when you can't or don't want to have two or three premium cars for each thing. But I have been checking a perfectly equipped X6 xDrive30d with M package looking nearly identical to this one they've got in stock at my BMW dealership and it has about 20,000€ worth of options. It's still 10.000€ less than the 50d and, like you pointed out, more than enough for this kind of vehicle in terms of performance. Great review.

Great review. Just tested the 40d and about to try the 50d before making a decision. Personally, I don’t want a sports car and don’t need a huge boot to transport goods. It’s a good compromise and if you like the looks and performance then why not...

Excellent job mr.thomas, as usual precise yet entertaining!! Bravo!! My ride now is a 7yr old x6 40d which is ripe for a new one... i'm in dilemma between this 50d or the Q7. The 40d has a good handling and superb at high speed cruising but the rides sometimes very untolerable esp on bad road.... harsh and stiff which is very annoying.... needs your wise feedback mr.thomas....

Indy Pindy I agree - as I said I think the X5 is more beautiful, however that 3 litre BMW Diesel is awesome and the driving experience was great as well.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this car. I like how bold it is, but I don't like the fact that the X5 exists. With the X5, there's too much to pull you towards that rather than this, the X6. To buy the X6, you have to say, "You know, I like the X5, but I just wish it was more uncomfortable, less practical, and much more expensive." Don't get me wrong, it's still a good car, but I'm afraid it's not a very logical choice with the X5 around. Great review as always, I'm looking forwards to watching later reviews.

Very un-PC car, but impressive engineering and more refinement than gen one. Probably safest to go swiftly on public roads in a car with such a higher seating position. The faster you go, the further you should look ahead for trouble or risks

i usually dont like bmw but this is the only one that is good (to me). it looks better than than x5, more like monster and that rear end is more sporty. what you think?? Is that bird perspective rear camera better on x6 or in new volvo xc90?? i think volvos is a little bit better because it clearer. also nice review

Nineq 96 Hey, yeah I think the 360 camera is better on the XC90 because it was clearer and also huge in that screen. Driving dynamics however are better with the X6.

As for the 2016 BMW X6 M50d, I cant find the right color or wheels like in the options on the X6 M. the X6 M50d is my favorite but i dont like the colors they offer, no 21inc wheels, and no carbon fiber int. because of the options not that great it keeps me away from buying.

The new X7 should be more interesting and practical , expect this same engine with more power as well as a V8 and probably a new V12 6.6 (6.0 or 6.6 from Rolls) either way it's gonna look better and bigger..The first gen. X6 had a better exterior , this new one looks more korean but has a better interior design.

Modern BMW material quality is absolutely inexcusable. The metals used and the interiors are on the same level as many Hondas (which are also worse than they were in the past) are.

MrCarGuy20 Hm I am not so sure, they interior was quite good. Only some points I criticized. At least in this high trim level. I agree to you when we talk about the basic entry versions, there you get a lot of cheap black plastics.

These are about the same quality throughout their lineup. If a BMW which costs 50% more than a mainstream competitor is disassembled, you would see extreme similarities in plastics, metals, and other quality. Most of their profit is made from options anyway; Porsche is the same.

MrCarGuy20 I agree, I am very fine with the high BMW trim levels, however the low trim levels are still very expensive but show cheap materials which disappoint you. I think its OK to have those different trims, but either I would expect lower prices for the entry models or (at the same price) already more features in the entry models.

***** Hey Ivan, thanks for asking. I would say: The BMW still has the better suspension, but the Volvo clearly has the better seats. Noise levels are very low in both cars, maybe with a slight advantage for the BMW

ChAbAr The feature is the Alcantara interior - its better than leather imho! If you dont have the m50d, you have leather seats.
