All-New 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug In Hybrid - Best Midsize crossover SUV

Mitsubishi Motors Europe is enhancing its commitment to the European market by introducing the new Outlander PHEV. This fourth-generation SUV, a leader in the D segment, aims to redefine market standards.
The new Outlander PHEV will go into production at the end of 2024 at the Okazaki plant, joining the company's revitalised range following the recent launches of the new ASX and the new COLT.
The new Outlander PHEV features dimensions of 1,750 mm in height, 4,719 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and a wheelbase of 2,704 mm.
Visually, the Outlander features subtle styling updates. While mid-cycle refreshes often introduce significant changes, the Outlander’s facelift is quite understated. The grille has a new pattern and includes active shutters to enhance aerodynamic performance and improve engine airflow. Customers can also choose 20-inch wheels and a new Moonstone Gray paint color.
Inside, the Outlander PHEV features a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, upgraded from the previous 9.0-inch display, utilizing new-generation software for faster responses.
Android Auto now offers wireless connectivity, complementing the existing wireless Apple CarPlay.
In Europe, the Outlander PHEV includes Mitsubishi Connect services, enabling users to remotely control functions such as locks and climate control, as well as locate their vehicle through an app.
Flagship versions also introduce a 12-speaker Yamaha sound system, replacing the previous Bose setup, along with ventilated front seats and a digital rear-view mirror for the first time.
The Outlander PHEV now offers semi-aniline leather upholstery in a brown color option. Additionally, there are updated graphics for the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
European models are equipped with a driver monitoring system akin to that found in the latest Triton ute. This system features a camera focused on the driver's eyes to ensure they are attentive to the road, providing audible alerts if distraction occurs.
The most significant change involves the Outlander PHEV’s powertrain, which has been improved with a new battery that has an energy capacity of 22.7 kWh, up from the previous 20 kWh. According to Mitsubishi, the electric-only range is up to 86 km following the WLTP standard.
The internal combustion engine remains unchanged, featuring a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine that produces 134 hp and 203 Nm of torque. The front electric motor maintains its output of 114 hp and 255 Nm, while the rear motor delivers 134 hp and 195 Nm, both contributing to the Super All-Wheel Control system.
The new Outlander PHEV boasts a total system output of 302 hp, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 7.9 seconds. In EV-only mode, it can achieve a top speed of 135 km/h.
The new Outlander PHEV features seven driving modes-Normal, Eco, Power, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow and Mud-each designed to optimize performance for various road conditions. Drivers can easily select their preferred mode using a central dial in the cabin, ensuring a confident driving experience even in challenging situations.
In Europe, full-scale sales of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are set to begin early next year, with prices already announced in several countries. In Germany, for instance, the hybrid starts at 49,990 euros.

Mitsubishi needs to do what Hyundai did in the late '90s: offer 10-year warranties (to first and second owners), enforce strict quality control, and promote the brand on a large scale. Once these phev vehicles start putting maybe even a 30-50kw battery the range will be 80 miles or better and I think pure EV cars will then have some real competition.

That's the Mid-life Facelift for the Outlander... Dunno why the video is titled "All-New". And besides, the majority of the changes I'd say are in the internal mechanics and the interior, and the changes on the exterior are quite minimal
