All-new 600e Review: Fiat's family friendly EV

The 2024 Fiat 600e is a compact, five-door electric crossover. It sits above the Fiat 500e in Fiat's range, and uses the same platform and battery tech as Stellantis stablemates such as the Jeep Avenger, Peugeot e-2008, and Citroen e-C4.
The 600e replaces the Fiat 500X, and is a crossover design that combines a practical interior with Fiat's distinctive design. It uses a 54kWh lithium-ion battery, offering an official WLTP range of 254 miles. In real-world conditions, expect the range to vary between 170 miles in winter to 240 miles in summer. It offers a comfortable drive, and while the 154bhp electric motor delivers only modest performance, that's in keeping with the 600e's laid-back character - it's not intended to be a Tesla-beater when it comes to acceleration.

"... a car for nipping to the shops..." At £33,000...???????????????????? 😵 I know that ALL new car prices - for both EV and piston-powered - have sky-rocketed over the last 2 years, but that seems like a HUGE price to pay for a simple run-around...? 🤔

Big discounts will soon be available. I was in a Peugeot dealer last Saturday and they were offering £17k off a top of the range 308 hybrid. They were struggling to shift it even with that discount ! Private buyers just don’t want these super expensive cars

Having seen a few of these reviews now the 600e really seems to be hitting efficiency numbers with one channel quoting 6kw per mile, and they weren't even trying to be efficient.

Looks like another strong offering from Stellantis - I appreciate they are all variations on a theme but they are at least visually different enough to justify their existence and this 600e has some really nice design details and references. If they can get the price right in the face of the onslaught from the far east, I think it will do well.

As a car guy I'd spend that kind of money on a Mazda MX5, or maybe a Corolla Cross or Sedan etc if I wanted a family car.

Looks good, but all these EVs are way too expensive. People have no idea how long the batteries will last (not just charge, but actual battery) and how much are repairs and servicing. Makers will have to drop prices significantly if they want people to buy them.

With a full length soft top or glass sun roof, that amount of chic may be worth the price. Just about. And the price ain't pretty for what is an iconic name-sake and a business friendly amount of makeup on a 🐖 Crossover. It reminds me of the Uninspiring and cramped DS4

I don't see the point in pushing EVs when the urban environment (people who live in apartments especially) lacks charging infrastructure. Also, they take too long to charge and cost too much, and the range doesn't justify the price you pay for them.

It’s not the range which justifies the price - it’s the low running costs which do. Yes, EVs should cost less but even now they make sense for most people. The cost per mile is less than petrol/diesel and the lower number of parts means there’s less to go wrong.

@@CharlieGB03 but there's a lack of understanding of EVs as most mechanics are used to servicing ICE cars, and in places where there's maybe not so many dealerships it'll be hard to own an EV.

People should be allowed to choose. People with house and drive could go for EVs. Others could still go for ICE if charging was a problem. It shouldn’t be decided by governments, politicians, “environmentalists 🙄” ….

@@oceanthirteen1628 this I 💯 Agree with! We shouldn't be forced to switch to EVs only. We need to have 2-4 different options for our vehicles. Hydrogen and Sustainable fuels are two viable options that nobody is investing much in, which is making those expensive.
