Hello Paul! Thanks for the video on creating simulations. Are slide notes available in the new captivate version? This feature is handy when we authoring a project and need to export a project as a document. Any workarounds that you would recommend?
@CaptivateTeacher10 ай бұрын
There are no slide notes in the new version. You can always go to www.adobe.com/go/cp_user_voice and suggest this as a feature.

Thank you so much, Paul! It's great to see these with the new Captivate. One thing that I would say is that there is something else we need to include in trainings besides clicking and entering text. We are working on trainings that involve general digital skills that many learners need to acquire, and CLICKING AND DRAGGING is key for this--that is, clicking and holding the mouse key and simultaneously moving. It's extremely important and necessary when you need to move a window, or when you need to resize a window, and it's not immediately intuitive (though to experienced computer users it might seem that way). Would it even be possible to include clicking and dragging in a training or assessment simulation?
@CaptivateTeacher11 ай бұрын
The whole drag-and-drop or click-and-drag functionality needs to be included, but there are workarounds for this. For example, back in the Captivate Classic days, I achieved the drag and drop of a file from a desktop to an upload page. It works reasonably well. For now, this isn't an option for Captivate 12. I suggest replacing these steps with demo simulations for the learner to watch the procedure and return to a training simulation for the remaining steps.

Thank you for this video, Paul. Is there a way to reset input fields and click boxes for training simulations? I was able to do this in Captivate 2019. In my initial testing of 12.3, click boxes and input fields do not reset upon slide re-entry when tested in our LMS, preventing learners from repeating the simulation if they need additional practice. I’ve attempted to add slide-level interactions to reset (enable) these elements on slide entry, but it hasn’t resolved the issue.

I'll have to check this out at some point. Usually revising a slide is enough. Try reaching out to Adobe and see if they can help. captivatehelp@adobe.com

HI Paul / your videos are great, thank you. New user here of the "new" tool/version - I tried a few practice training simulations and they worked fine. For a bigger project, I have combined various projects into one. However, in this latest version when published the checkboxes no longer seem to work - any ideas what the issue might be?

@@CaptivateTeacher Thank you very much for the reply. I had managed to fix it by going through and editing the click boxes one-by-one (seemingly the flow was lost on copying into a single project) and removing some highlight boxes.

This video was great and exactly what we needed - thank you! I have a question about using simulations within Captivate. When I add a simulation to a project, Captivate changes the size of text and video blocks on preceding slides. Clicking "Undo" removes the simulation slides but doesn't revert the changes made to the preceding slides. The only option is to close Captivate and "Discard" all changes. I've tried creating simulations using different capture types (fullscreen, application window, and custom size), but the outcome is always the same. Do you have any tips, tricks, or recommendations for this issue?
@CaptivateTeacher4 ай бұрын
The problem might be that there is a theme file associated with the software simulation and a theme file associated with the other project file. The slides you copy and paste into the destination project inherit the theme properties (all the fonts and colors) of the destination project. Your only option might be to update all the component properties to the desired formatting.
@VincentRaposa-x6g4 ай бұрын
@@CaptivateTeacher Thank you so much Paul! Originally, we attempted to create the simulation in the existing project file. However, when we saw its impact on the preceding slides, we moved it to a separate project file within Captivate to ensure zero effect on the original project file. After that, we tried to move the simulation from one project to the other. Although doing so didn't affect the preceding slides in the original project file, the simulation slides lost some functionality (i.e., answer feedback captions). Where simulations are concerned, is the recommended practice to create them in their own project file, matching themes with the destination project before moving them between projects?

The key step for me is to always record at the same resolution and aspect ratio as the completed project. Things will line up much better if you do this.

Hi Paul, I noticed the instruction boxes no longer have a corner with a pointer like we have in the older versions of Captivate. We use the instruction box to point to the field we want the user to click. Is this available in the new version of Captivate?
@CaptivateTeacher10 ай бұрын
No, it no longer has that option. Perhaps it might return at some point, as they are updating the software every quarter now. What I do is place instructions, feedback or hints right next to the field that I want my learners to press or click.

Hi Paul! First of all! you are doing great job by sharing videos ! I am facing 2 main issues with All new version as below: 1. in Simulations- We can not add Right click interaction to a Click box, which is very important in most of the software sims. 2. if we put highlight Box (or even 2nd click box) on a Click Box, it is not working ! it's like All new version does not allow overlapping of Click boxes even if we adjusted entry of clickboxes on timeline (1 st click box enter then layer end, 2nd click box started on timeline); it would be very helpful if you have any solution! i also raised this concern to the Adobe. I think without these two functionalities most of the Software simulations won't work.

Thanks for watching my videos. Software simulation in Adobe Captivate Classic is still the more robust choice when you need to create simulations with unique features like right-click click boxes. You can use Adobe Captivate Classic as part of your All-New Adobe Captivate subscription. You can download it and install it from here if you don't have it already: www.adobe.com/ca/products/captivate/vipdownload.html

In the newest version of adobe captivate, is there any way to record a webcam while recording the screen? would it be 2 different streams or one?
@CaptivateTeacher8 ай бұрын
Video Demo is the feature you're looking for, and it's available in Adobe Captivate Classic. Remember, your subscription gets you both versions. While it still needs to be added to the All-New Captivate, Adobe aims for parity with the two versions by 2027. Need a Video Demo now? You've got it in Classic.

Hi Paul, is the simulation in the new version now offering the same functionality that was available in the previous older version? I only tend to do simulations and would like to know if I can still do the same things as before. Is the importing of Powerpoint slides now possible, do you know, and does it mean by Customisable Smart Shapes which when I looked is not yet available? As always thank you for your help.

I believe the simulations are complete. A new feature is coming that allows you to blur part of the image for privacy concerns. Still not PowerPoint import.

Hi Paul, thank you very much for the video. I would like users to have a choice to go back and do the simulation again, but the simulation does not work the second time once it's gone through. Is there a way/workaround to make the simulation work multiple times? Thank you very much in advance!
