I 100% agree with trails being more fun the narrower they are. Imagine if they went back and rototilled 2 or 3 feet (1 meter), then planted grass seed, or whatever other native ground vegetation, on each side of the mega wide main trails like aline, dirt merchant, etc. You would still be going the same speed, but the sensation of speed would be way higher, and it would still be plenty wide. And the original width would still physically be there if you got squirrelly and ran wide, it would be like the shoulder on a highway. I also had a thought about turning some of the super wide berms into 2 lanes, one mellow for slower riders, and the other vertical for high speed ripping. That would be quite a bit of work to make it safe though, I think one lane would need to be elevated so riders in both could see each other clearly.
@rustyshackelford5758 Жыл бұрын
those trails are wide so the machines can have access for maintenance. All the jump trails get completely pounded and machine work is the only way to fix them. Single track causes a more defined ride line which only accelerates wear. Plus maintaining drainage is not very easy if you have veg everywhere. Im a builder in the CA and whistler has some extremely talented builders, regardless of what some of the jaded locals may think haha

I’m not discounting that shops abilities, but I do want to say something. An experienced mechanic can build just as strong a wheel without all the super fancy tools that this shop uses. There are many ways to detention spokes and make sure they fit the flanges perfectly, a press isn’t required. Anyways, if you’re looking to get strong wheels built you don’t need to stress about finding a shop with all those tools, a shop with a very experienced mechanic will do well too!

Ha now ya need a new 29'er fork front wheel and she'll ride even faster
@sakkiemaree4955 Жыл бұрын
It went together easily in less than an hour. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
