Software is cheap. Analog controls are more costly. So one will pay more for simplicity, crazy as that sounds.

For god sake, can any manufacturer release a compact truck that has a short wheel base and 4x4, no gadgets, no screen, just a simple honest old timer truck? AC optional is fine too. I have a 90 miles one-way commute 3 to 4 times a week. I haul some gear (not a lot) and some fuel. I need a single cab, hybrid, nothing fancy just plain basic truck. If you can give me a 6 speed manual - great. This week the gas price here is $6/gallon!

The maverick 2.0 gets roughly 23-30 mpg.. and the 2.5 hybrid gets 37-42. You would be happy with their xl version, which is their base model. Look into it.

Ford caught GM and Stellantis with their pants down. And three years later still no competition from either. I hope Toyota develops a compact truck to compete with the Maverick soon. It’s partly because the Maverick is a truck but mostly because of the price point. NO ONE can afford vehicles priced over $30-35K.

I actually tried to buy a Maverick, ordered it, put the down payment, waited 11 months without a single dealer update, only to find out the dealership didn't do their job any convert the order once production went to the new year and my order was closed out. Now I was waiting for a truck that was never coming, so Ford screwed me, I am so excited that all the other manufacturers are gonna steal the market from Ford, hopefully it will djko some damage. I kinda hoped that Ford would step up and remedy my issue . if they GAVE me a truck I'd set it on fire before I sat in it, they lost my business forever. So you go Toyota, Chevy, Dodge anyone but Ford!!

Toyota needs a pickup that prioritizes fuel efficiency over performance. I have been incredibly disappointed by both the Tundra and Tacoma hybrids. I don’t need more power I need better fuel economy. Why does Toyota think the Ford Maverick is selling like hot cakes despite terrible reliability?

I don't care about power and "turning heads." Flooring the gas pedal when tearing away from a traffic light is a stupid, immature, gas-wasting behavior. Give me 40mpg in a lightweight, simple single cab 6ft bed truck.

I like the idea of these compact trucks but the whole reason for a truck is for the bed. The beds are smaller than what I would prefer. Unfortunately there is not much in the middle. The ranger is the size of the old f150 and carrying the price tag of one f150 are way over priced. The Dodge Ram is garbage etc etc.. Currently there are no new truck on the market that fulfill my wants. Unfortunately my old truck finally met its end and I may just have to settle for one of these trucks mentioned. I may hold out a bit longer and hope somebody actually builds what I am hoping for. Of course it Toyota doesn’t release it soon, then I will probably just go buy a Maverick and call it a day.

I hope they at least make it nice looking on the interior. I’d love a maverick, but it’s SO barebones it’s sad. The cloth seats look like trash, the quality of the interior components are awful, and there’s like…NO interior storage.

What I want is a small truck that can carry four comfortably, has four wheel drive with some moderate off roading capability, at least a six foot bed, and at least 30mpg. This is what the Tacoma should have been I don’t need 300+hp 400+ft-lb 150-200hp and 250-300ft-lb is more than enough.
