Be careful what you wish for. In 1994 I bought a Ford Ranger with V6. It had a far better feeling clutch than the Chevy S10 which is the base of the Old postal trucks that are shit and being replaced decades overdue. Asshole tire place put the wrong fluid in the hydraulic clutch. Slave cylinder is a doughnut type deal that started leaking and requires separation of motor from transmission to replace. The damn Ford service dealer replaced the starter solenoid twice. I find out later from internet that a wire connector develops resistance from corrosion. I replaced the terminal on that wire myself and never had to push start it again. FUCK FORD AND GM . The one routine advice of Scotty Kilmer that fits generic experience is BUY TOYOTA. Current shopping is headed to purchase of used Kia Carnival (gas) or used Ford e-Transit high roof, range is poor, I'll rent something for any long trip. IF batteries get a lot better,and they might the ICE and all the attached crap that make it work and legal will be recycled.

We pretty much know what engines are going to be offered. It's comes down to money. Keep it under 35 for say a TRD Sport and you get the hot motor (non hybrid), decent payload and enough oomph to pull at least 5k lbs.

@Aubatron3 ай бұрын
@@dirkdiggler2379Yeah that’s why I’m going to get the 2023 Tacoma because it’s the last year for the v6 full gas. I don’t want none of that v4 turbo hybrid crap, at least not for a decade when/if they know it has long term reliability. Can’t tow nearly as much, and has the potential to have way more problems. Only benefit is it is better on the highway when you’re not hauling or towing anything. but that’s not the purpose for most trucks, at least for people that actually use their trucks.

Don't want or need a 4 door sedan pickup truck. Break out the small 1980 single cab pickup specs and make the bare minimum changes to meet Federal requirements. Only engine a 4 cyl, 5 speed (optional 4 speed automatic), ps, pb, ac and a radio with bluetooth connection. No fancy options, you still have the Tacoma and Tundra for the more deluxe versions.

@@Techno4more ancient or not better is better. 4 wheel vehicles are ancient too. What does towing have to do with it?
@Techno4more3 ай бұрын
@@stoggy4839 it's just not better in any measurable way. Slower, less efficient. What do you need power and torque for in a truck if it isn't for towing? You're not towing with this thing regardless. The torque and power measurements are basically the same nowadays. There's just no justification for a manual transmission other than you like to touch balls and sticks while driving
@stoggy48393 ай бұрын
@@Techno4more OMG... first its a 4 cylinder so you will always need more power and torque. Simply because ... Standard transmissions don't need maintenance. A clutch will go 500,000 miles, i know because i did it. Standard transmissions get 30% better gas mileage, 30% better horsepower and 30% better torque. Cheaper to build, cheaper to maintain and never fail. autos are trash for people who can't drive.

I don't want 2 rows of seats. I just want a small truck with 2 seats @ 15-20k. Stop putting crap in trucks to uselessly bloat them. If I want a family car I buy a family car. If I want a truck, I will buy a truck. If I need both, I'd rather buy both instead of having a vehicle that is half way both.
@mrdavester4 ай бұрын
Well not every one can afford two personal vehicles. They have to cater to the market..
@uncommonsense86934 ай бұрын
@mrdavester they sure can't when they add 101 unwanted features to what should be a simple truck, and charge 70k at a dealership for it when it has a v4. Which is part of my point. The idiots buying 4 seater trucks with 4 cylinder engines that are pushing this useless market forward are the same guys that never tow or do a trade, and want a truck to replace the girth their pants lack
@bsmith80162 ай бұрын
The released starting price just listed for the Stout is $23,000. So much for cheap. That means the cheapest Stout you will fine on a dealers lot will be $30,000+.
@thisisashan2 ай бұрын
@@bsmith8016 Makes sense though. Released to directly compete with the Maverick. That said, I would definitely pay 23k for one. IMO dealerships at this point should be a thing of the past. A bunch of guys sitting in an office costing a dealership $$$ to do literally nothing until someone wants to sign a contract, is just a form of welfare. Companies like Toyota would be smart to fore-go dealer overstock issues and do direct shipment. Leave the dealerships to be auto service centers. I'd rather pay the tow guy the 1k to drag it across the country directly than the shop $8k to sit around looking at internet porn until someone wants their attention.

@naturestrail22964 ай бұрын
I want all gas, 4x4, manual trans, flexible suspension, compact size but 2 door with more bed and hold taller drivers ok. Not only is a single cab a better work truck but far better visibility. Give a bench seat with springs in the bottom that's comfortable like the old days and capable of holding 3 people easy in a single cab. We even fit 4 in small trucks before in an emergency. Bucket seats don't belong in a single cab period. Any way to ditch the turbo for reliability? Toyota should stick with it's reliable name instead of keeping the modem stupid moto that will end with the destruction of the Toyota name. Turbo should be an option and the engine & drivetrain built strong enough to withstand a turbo should be standard.

No infotainment please. just plain knobs, switches. Old single din stereo with a space that has a built in socket for a phone mount would be MUCH preferred. I don't know one person that uses the navigation on their "infotainment" while everyone complains about going through menus for stereo or HVAC. Don't need power windows, happy to turn a crank. No data connection to my car, I'm not going to pay for it and I prefer the security/privacy of not having it built into my vehicle.

Two things to consider. Toyota would have to build it in the NAFTA market to make any profit. That means they have to tool up for it first, which hasnt started yet, sooo,.. Then toyota would have to accept rhe fact that they might be losing more tacoma sales to a lower profit platform than gaining mavrick buyers. I cant see any way they can compete with the awd ecoboost Maverick. Certainly not at a sub 30k pricepoint. So I agree, dont wait for a stout, its not like they will sell at MSRP for a couple years even if it came out tomorrow.
