I dread bedtime. Without Dan I don’t think I’d ever sleep. My daughter calls me in my sleep and I’m halfway to her room before I realize she isn’t there. Dan soothes me back to sleep and I’m so grateful. Tomorrow is Sunday I always visit the cemetery on Sunday after church and Sunday night is peaceful but I’ll still need Dan.

I always wake in the night . But with Dan I am back to sleep in minutes. I have tried loads of different narrators but Dan is the best. And as another person has said he seems to be the only one who does a full night of stories not one story then rain. Thank you Dan!

Whenever I am anxious and can’t sleep, I listen to your soothing voice telling stories. I don’t remember much because I fall asleep! This morning, being Sunday, I lay here and listened to one of the cat stories. Thank you for all your work, it is always appreciated. I did go to subscribe one time but it was a small amount every month. I don’t like paying subscriptions and would rather just make a donation from time to time. I wasn’t able to do this. Ive been scrolling the tubes of you for 30 mins and finally landed on this video to soothe my very fractious nervous system. Not sure how long jt will hold my attention but your voice is nice...no squishy mouth noises, good background rain. Only thing i thought it would have and it hasnt so far, is lovely purring. That will hopefully be a one-off experience, there are no ads placed in this video by me as the creator, but like with all sleep stories channels, KZbin overrules is and sometimes places ads in our videos. Myself and other creators have been trying to address this with KZbin for years but KZbin won't stop doing it, so it is a risk people take with listening to any sleep story on KZbin and long videos especially as we are not maximising revenue by placing ads in our long videos. Apparently KZbin doesn't pay us creators when people see these ads because we didn't choose to have the ads show, so KZbin keeps all the revenue for the privilege of disrupting our viewers...

Dan.... you have changed your intro lately. It's nice but it's a bit what is the term ASMR. I don't know if that was your intention? Anyway I have always enjoyed your stories

It is a similar introduction to the one I used previously, I just re-recorded an introduction with me on screen, so that KZbin can see that it is me making these videos. My previous introduction was audio only. KZbin have been closing down other similar channels because the creator is never on screen and they accuse the channels of not making their own original content, so those channels creators have to then try to prove to KZbin that they are the person talking and that the content is their original content. Before my previous introduction (where I mention liking, subscribing and Patreon etc) I went through a period with no introduction, and before that I had face to camera introductions, but in a 'normal' voice, because at the time I didn't realise people often listened to my stories back-to-back, and so assumed people are 'awake' at the beginning of my stories and then guided to sleep, and the most effective way to do this is to start the video with me 'awake' and gradually getting sleepier, so that my communication matches where the listener is at and guides them to sleep, more so than the words I am using. Once I learnt that many people listened to more than one story in a night I had to change or remove the introduction...

Unfortunately the only thing that seems to get views here on KZbin is storytelling and rain videos, it make a very significant difference in viewing figures, so I have to post storytelling with rain here on KZbin, but on all other platforms the stories don't have rain...

That is annoying. KZbin gives us creators the choice of where we have and choose not to have adverts, but then overrules us if they feel we aren't optimising the opportunities to made income. I have permanent messages on my account from KZbin trying to get me to put ads in my videos, stating that I'm missing out on additional revenue. When they put the ads I don't get the income from people seeing those ads...

I obviously don't know what it has to do with using the terms they or their, but I would definitely describe myself as woke (as described in dictionaries as: aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts, issues and unfairness), but then I assume most people are? I'm very aware of injustice and wanting the best for people, for everyone to be treated with kindness and respect and to have the right to say and do what they like as long as it doesn't impact on the rights of others or cause harm to others (and by harm, I don't mean that someone is offended, but I do include where people actively encourage hatred which can lead to harm, and people engaging in bullying and harassing behaviour). I strongly believe in justice, in honesty and integrity, and that we should treat all living things with love, kindness and compassion, whether they are your best friend or your worst enemy, even in those rare times someone has to cause harm. I have stories which obviously feature characters who are they/them, he/they, she/they characters (and have a playlist of many of these stories, and of my stories with lead LGBTQ+ characters, as well as some all night compilations of these stories), but also my default way of referring to people/characters is as they/them when talking about them and this is even more likely the case when it is animals that I've not got any idea of the gender of and so I'm not going to call the cat he or she when I don't know and so they are a they in the context of the story, just like if you were at an appointment to see a Dr Smith and you've never met them before and don't know any more about their name than this and they are late calling you for your appointment, you might do as I've just done all sentence, and go to the desk asking "what is taking them so long, when will they call for you." You are using them and they because they are multiple Doctors, you are referring to a single person who you don't know the gender identity of. For decades in therapy sessions with clients and on places like KZbin I've also used they/them so the listener can give the character the identity they want, to personalise their experience, deeper absorbing their attention. It is only in the last 7 or 8 years that suddenly there has been critical comments about this. It used to be a point of praise from people, happy that if they were listening and they wanted the character to be female, this is what they would imagine and then could relate to that female character and I wouldn't mismatch their imagination by saying he, likewise if they wanted the character to be male.
