Yea but I think its cus hes not used to it again like how he was before cus drayton means well and is doing all the ex-champion stuff as playful payback cus kieran did trash talk him during the edge phase he went through but kieran is developing better by having a voice of his own so him lashing out isnt bad on his part cus drayton took no offense or hostility towards him he smiled cus that's wat he wanted kieran to still have his own confidence in himself around others not for strength to be better then others but confident to stand up for himself and others when need to

I wish his dialogue when he beats you was more excited ngl. He’s trained so hard to beat you and when he finally does: “W o w z e r s, thanks for the match! 🤓” He’s put in so much work to beat you, and his dialogue should really reflect that. Like an accidental outburst like: “YESSSSS- Oh, uh- um, thanks for the match!” His actual dialogue just feels a bit too tame given the events of the story 😕

Well he was shocked being something he didn't see himself ever doing. Being excited shows arrogance. Even in the first battle he seemed terrified of you. Meaning shock is the only proper emotion which he was.

I think that's kind of the point though... He's matured since the events of The Indigo Disk and returned to his naturally soft-spoken and kinda timid personality. I'd say they're trying to convey that he has shed the whole "winning is everything" mindset and now has a more casual and "just enjoy battles" kind of mindset, kinda just like playing a friendly match with your friend(s) in real life

From the school's point of view, Kieran came back from break, beat everyone in battle and then acted like a complete jerk to everyone and nobody had done anything to deserve it so if some people are allowed to be salty about Kieran well they kind of are in their right, and then they can be friends again after a bit. Even if most of his friends are not taking his apologies because they already accepted them and moved on not everyone is gonna feel the same and that's fine too. Drayton could be a lot meaner than just keep calling him ex-champ non stop.

Honestly, for as much as people joke about Kieran getting the short end of the stick, I do think in the end, he got not what he wanted, but what he needed, which was good friends. Seeing him interact with the Paldean trio and the League members made me feel relieved that he has a good support system despite everything. Also, I'm glad he mentions Ogerpon in the sense that he's happy that she's with you, but I still wish we could trade him Ogerpon or have some special interaction between the two.

I do like that takeaway from all of this. Kieran looked up to ogerpon cause it was everything he wanted to be, but he never really thought about how to get to that level. Then when he goes through his edgy phase, he becomes obsessed with getting strong because he believes that that was the only reason we were able to win ogerpon over. However, despite all of his flaws and mistakes and the danger he put us through, we still always stayed by his side as a friend. He was always so sure about what he wanted, which was to be strong and independent like ogerpon, but in the end, even though he never got ogerpon, he was still unconditionally supported by us and Carmine. We never intentionally ridiculed him, never tried to put him down, and even saved his life despite everything he did. And while he is still occasionally self depreciating, we and his friends are always there to back him up. That's why I'm glad he didn't get ogerpon, because while it was what he wanted, it wouldn't have helped him change and grow into who he is now. We were able to give him everything he needed, rather than what he wanted, and that's how he was able to become a better person.

3:41 I find it very interesting and annoying how different the dialogues are between English and Japanese, because Kieran actually said "Really? For someone like me?" at 4:16 in Japanese I haven't play this DLC so I don't know if we saw Kieran actually being a jerk to Lacey, but the Japanese line plays more into his low self-esteem, and Lacey cheers him up by saying that's what friends do, and shows how close they are even if Kieran doesn't know how to rely on people But in English, they implied Kieran was horrible to Lacey, and she just doesn't hold grudges, which is still cute, but completely changed their dynamic and relationship
