I think Kyle Petty had some really awesome sponsors & paint schemes which imo were some of the best paint schemes in Nascar history if not the best.

Some interesting information on Kyle's last win. At some point during the race, there was an exhaust leak from the car and Kyle in victory lane was taking oxygen from a mask because the fumes affected him for such a long time in the race. That race was on June 4th, 1995, the same day as Barry Dodson's (Kyle's crew chief) birthday. I read or heard somewhere that Barry told Kyle at some point after the race that it was his birthday and Kyle said, "I know". Barry had been through tragedy the previous fall when his kids lost their lives in an auto accident. I sometimes think that's why Kyle didn't "throw in the towel" at the end of that race as well. It was a gritty performance by Kyle to get that win that day.

Kyle was a great competitor... Unfortunately second half of his career he never had a strong ride! Poor equipment and the lost of his son erased any left passion..

He never won while driving for the Petty family except his lone ARCA win in his very 1st race. He won when he drove for the Wood Bros & Sabates

The story was that he went back to Petty Enterprises to try to build the team up for Adam starting in 96. Had a 5 year plan to get Adam in the seat and for Kyle to retire after the 2000 season. If he stayed with Sabco he would have had more wins and probably had some strong years to end his career with the partnership with Chip and Dodge.

@Jacobred00 I recently learned that Kyle and his dad, along with Sabates, were co-owners of the Charlotte Checkers hockey team in the East Coast Hockey League back in the 90s. Do you know if they ever had any Charlotte Checkers stickers on any of the race cars Kyle drove back then?

Before you hate on Kyle Petty, read this. 3,000+ people have ever made it to cup series competition as drivers to start a race. Of those 3,000+, only about 200 of them have ever won a single race. And only 68 of those 200 have won more races than Kyle Petty. He may suck compared to the legends. But he’s incredible compared to you and I.

He has a total of 8 wins. He had big shoes to fill. He was not king Richard but honestly Kyle Petty was a pretty good driver.

He never won a race while driving for the Petty family. He wouldve probably won more races if he had stayed with other teams such as the Wood Brothers or Sabates. He was an above average driver, but his win total doesn't reflect how good he actually was
